The edge retention on Lightfoot BG-42 knves

Hi All,
Since I have never owned Lightfoot knife...
Would be great to hear people who actually own blades from Greg made of BG-42. Since my primary concern is edge holding ...

I have A Stainless Damascus 458 Mag and have no problems but do not use it extensively. The price differential between BG 42 and Damascus was only $250(US). I think you should be more interested in the design, fit and finish than blade steel . In these categories, Greg is up there with the best. His new Millenium blade has a very nice profile and won't be mistaken for anything else and the whole package carries very nicely!
 
Agree, however I am interested or thinking of getting Greg's Pitbull, seems to be fine on the picture. It's gonna be a user & I am not going to use 4 inch blade to chop either

Hence my interest in this particular quality of that steel used by him.
Does that make sense?

I have never used any of lightfoot's knives but my sebenza uses BG42 and if Greg's heat treat is similar then the edge retention should be great. My sebenza's edge retention is the best out of all my knives.

 
Make sense. I gennerally do not fret very much over the blade material but tell the maker what I want to do with his knife and let him tell me what he believes will work best because each maker knows his blades, grinds and heat treatment and they are slightly different for each maker. Greg like stainless Damascus so other than the pattern, thats what I have him make knives out of for me. Jerry hossom willmake me a fighter and I will let him decide the steel that will bet suit the blade lenght and usage and if it is 154 CM or 440V. so be it. Hope this helps!
