I have been working on my design for the friction folder for about six months now in anticipation of an early fall release... it is well on the way! I am very close on the final design and hardware selection. It has been a lot tougher than I thought even though I have a few folders under my belt now; I do want it to be the best.

I'm going to do an early buy thread with a discount to help fund the run. Look out soon!

I plan on thick Titanium scales with a 1/8" S7 steel blade, Ti on Ti and G10/Micarta will most likely be an option. Harpoon and tanto blades are a serious possibility.

Harpoon! I like the sound of that!

Ho damn! Just when I thought my wallet couldn't take anymore! Daniel, I don't know if I will have the funds at the time but if I do, I am going to be all over this  Carbidized Ti 'Poon with Krypto scales would be awesome!!!!!

I'm thinking FLIPPER friction folder.. small num to actuate the flippy'ness action... still friction folder, so no locking mech. I guess flipper would flip out and bounce and not be so friendly to fingers.. hmmm

So yeah, how big you making this one, and S7 eh??? does S7 hold an edge better than 3v or M4??? I'd love to see a thin slicy version, but that would require two sets of hardward to build the two different thicknesses, but I bet you'd get more people enrolled :) And what kind of finish on the G10?? grooves?? dimples?? other??

And could the tang which is where we actuate the action, be doubled as a bottle opener O_O

I have an old Buck Whittaker... bought years ago so I could clip it onto pack and open bottles and cut stuff, never got there, BUT the idea would be similar, the bottle opener end of that model acts as your index flip part, and uhm, beer.. yes more beer! obviously get rid of the huge carabiner part and shape differently.. check one out and see what I mean.. friction run with mods :D

/end ramble

Krypto Green G-10 also works for me. So does Ti with Ti. :D

I'm wanting tanto to match the Fairly A2 tanto goodness that I already have....

:D lol! That sounds cool!

I probably won't be doing Ti blades this first run but I do hope to eventually make a Ti and Damascus version... I might though, I know I really want to.

Krypto - I would like to work that out but I'm not sure, too many reasons to list... I could get some glow scales though, that sounds sweet!

flipper... no I agree- I went through the same thought process with the flipper. I want to do one eventually!

S7 - it is my favorite steel but I do want buyer input

S7 is the toughest blade steel I know of
Easy to sharpen
Holds an edge equivalent to A2 but is way tougher
finishes nicely
no big carbides to chip out, S7 is very stable at the edge and overall... they even use it for the best jackhammer blades at a lower RC -
gets very sharp!

I think I will make a thread about this, steel choice is somewhat up in the air. More thoughts soon.

I thought about the bottle opener end but I want to keep the tang as small as possible. Sounds cool though, Brian Fellhoelter makes an awesome one.

This one will be a real pocket knife, small enough to carry anywhere and big enough to do about anything.

length - just under 7"
blade - 2.75" blade

Thanks, great questions!

Sounds cool! Like I mentioned Krypto will be ruled out but I may be able to do some sort of glow scales, Ti on Ti for sure!

Thanks guys! I am excited about this design!

I'm wanting tanto to match the Fairly A2 tanto goodness that I already have....

Thanks! That sounds good to me!

This!!! ^ Tanto!
But, this will be my first Fairly.

You know I love tantos!

That sculpted g-10 you do for handles. Kinda mimicks the cord wrap feel of the tanto....

Friction Folder looks very nice and I love that it's gonna be full Ti,, beauty. However, I've gotta save my Washington's and Lincoln's for the serious shizzzzzz i.e. 1/3" frame locks. I can't wait to pry open my wife's purse with it, and rescue my testicals! Boooo Ya Unh !!!!
