It will take 20 people or more to make this thing happen. If we get 20 committed nephews it's on and here's the deal.

Action starts at 10 AM, Sat. Sept. 22 and we will close up at 5 PM Sunday the 23rd. Sunday is my 68th birthday so that's cause for some celebration -- at least for me. I may drink so many Heinekens I'll decide to move into the sweat lodge and stay there -- forever.

Basics first.

Yvsa will have tents available in the back yard for those on a budget. Free room. Those who need something a little fancier can take a room at motels within a mile of Yvsa's place -- probably in the forty or fifty buck range. Sat. nite we will have food and drink on HI served right in Yvsa's back yard -- a pretty magical place I can tell you from experience. If we need more food there will be transportation available and there are fast food joints within a mile of Yvsa's place. Nobody will go hungry and everybody will have at least a canvas roof over their head. Don't worry. Food and shelter provided for those who need it. Just try to get there.

I'll send Yvsa a box of assorted khukuris for us to play with and buy if you want -- special discounted prices. And a few other goodies from Nepal if Gelbu will send them.

Yvsa will show his collection and demonstrate with great ability how to properly sharpen a khukuri to razor's edge.

Any MA folks who are there can show their stuff if they promise not to scare the neighbors.

And Terry Sisco will be there with samples of his work and words of wisdom on scabbard making, repair and knife refurbishing. I only hope he doesn't cut his (or anybody else's) leg off during his demos.

Those who have attended the Reno and Margate conventions I think can vouch for what good people attend these functions and what good times were had at those and I think this may be a topper if Tsimi will only come out of the cave for the weekend and hop a plane to Tulsa.

Nephews and nieces, old Uncle Bill invites you to attend this get together and guarantees you with that Sterling HI guarantee that you'll have one of the best times of your life.

So, sign on and we'll see you in Catoosa.

Bro, jump in here and take care of everything I've fogotten.

I work weekends but I'll try to get this one off I'll be in touch Soon!!! I'd love to make it and I'll try my best to get those days off! I'm middle man on the totem pole!

Chris, get hold of mochiman if you're going to drive it and you can share trip expenses and driving. He's a good guy and visited the Cantina in person. We'd love to see you both.

:
We have our tent that I "think" will sleep 4 and we can probably borrow one from our daughter and her mate that's a 3 room tent Barb thinks. I don't know how big it is for sure.
And we can also get one from one of our daughter's and our freinds.
And then our Sweatlodge that will sleep several if needed.
The only thing is is that help will be needed to erect the tents. Our's is pretty simple and we can do it.

And as Bro said there's lodgeing and food available close by. There's a Wendy's, A KFC and Taco Bell's, 2 Pizza places and Pauline's Country Catfish Buffet. A Waffle House, a truck stop cafe and a KOA if needed. A Coney Island and a Subway.
There's also a donut shop but it's for early risers as they sell out pretty quickly.
So there's all kinds of cholestrol to suit anyone's fancy.:D

We have a large Webers Grill and a small electric one and we can borrow a grill or 2 if needed if we decide we want to have a cookout. And we also have a rotissere that will hold a couple of chickens. And Barb has already said she would make the potato and macaroni salads and I know I can talk her into cole slaw as well.
And Barb's an awfully good cook as well as Sandi, Terry's wife.

And the airport is only 5 or so miles away for those who might wanna fly in.
And as I already said, I think, that we can pick up at the airport at the curb.
I would love to be able to meet people at the gate, but the airport is so large that I can't comfortably walk that far.
Or those that want their own transportation can rent a car if they wish. That's what Barb and Dave K and me did at Reno. That way the cost is cut and is affordable.
We can work that out later as we see how everyone will be coming in though.

The one thing I would like to decide on before hand and if we get enough people is whether everyone wants to have a cookout or have something catered in.
I would prefer a cookout myself as that way we know what we're getting and I know how Barb and Sandi cook!!!!:D
And depending on how many are coming we can either get ribs or something as well as some hotdogs and hamburgers for any kiddies that might come with parents.

But as Uncle Bill has said, "It depends on whether we can get 20 or more to sign up."
I would like to see everyone make it if at all possible!!!!:D

There's one more thing I've GOT to say.

If this convention happens it's a very rare chance to meet some of the best men and women you will find on this planet and if you tent it you'll be sleeping in the back yard of the some of the best of the bunch.

If I had my druthers I'd like to see every man and woman I've accepted as nephews and nieces show up. I'll croak if Ray C doesn't make it.

Thanks, Bro, for such great help and consideration. See you in Catoosa.

One last item: Don't go for the catering!

:
Uncle Bill has eaten both Barb's and Sandi's cooking and doesn't want to miss out on it if we get enough
forumites.:D
And I have to say that coming for the food alone would be worth the trip let alone discounted khukuris and other goodies, huh Bro?:D

Besides there may accidently be enough left for breakfast on Sunday morning!!!!:D

As I have that weekend off, I may just pop down for a visit. Now if Tsimi, Blues and the other eastern forumites show up, I think this will be quite the weekend.

NO PROMISES

but, will try like the devil to find some way to make it. Rusty

( Does OK have reciprocity with NV on CCW? Maybe I can get my slipgun done by then. Sorry Uncle, my meds are already maxed out. )

I'd love to Harry, but not sure about the logistics yet.

Rusty:

Okla. has no CCW reciprocity with Nev. This is another of my obsessions (along with HIKV and Woodchuckitus). Seems that within the OBSI, there is a committee/board with the authority to refuse/grant reciprocity with other states. It is staffed with the old hold-outs who were against CCW in the first place, and they have pouted their way into control. Okla. CCW law states that they will honor other states permits, so long as they do not allow carry of weapons illegal in Okla. This is the most ridiculous clause ever put into print, and is clearly intended as as a stumbling block to reciprocity. ALL other states which are open to reciprocity simply require an out-of-stater to obey local laws. No biggie. Sorry for the rant, but this fits in the category below:

GROW YOUR OWN DOPE!! PLANT A BUREAUCRAT!

I will be in school then, but I love roadtrips. It will be worth my time and $$$, I am sure of that.

If I can figure out the logistics to get there I know I will be sleeping in my car or a tent if they are still not called.

Wow...I cannot believe that I might get to go to a kukvention

I cannot wait.

About 400 miles, Dave. Leave Friday and return Sunday. That's some miles but the roads are pretty easy. You have only Dallas to contend with and everything else is pretty much open roads.

If things were to settle down here, I *might* be able to make a road trip...

Wal, it would be a good excuse for a mini-family reunion... could you make the drive??? What about older Bro (surface if you are lurking Bri). I need an excuse to get out of Dogde so to speak.

Alan

That's like a month into the semester, so I'd have to fly, fortunately it's only going to cost $180 according to Travelocity. I might be able to make it, if I don't have any stuff due the week after it. How far is this from OK city???

Bob

:
Some folks say it's 99 miles and others argue that it's 102 miles.
And I think the Turner Turnpike is now up around $5.00 each way.
There's route 66 that's free, but it takes you through all the little towns along the way.:(
But the good news is I haven't heard of any speed traps down that way.
And I doubt that anyone coming will route themselves through Tahlequah or Hulbert OK, but anyone having the misfortune of going through Hulbert be advised to drive 5 mph UNDER the speed limit!!!!
That will keep you out of the claws of Boss Hogg.:D

Anyone driving to Tulsa/Catoosa will be on one of the famous Oklahoma Turnpikes.
The only good thing about that is that the speed limit is 75 mph.:)
Some people drive 80, but I keep my speed on cruise at 77 1/2 mph, so far, so good.:D

Alan:

Looks a little tight right now, but we're agreeable, and working on it. Lots of "wait and see".

>>>>Lots of "wait and see"<<<<

That is an understatement. But, we could celebrate Uncle's, Older Bro's and my birthday all at once. I will need the extra support of all the family and formites as this will be the 40th for me... a very trying time in a young man's life. PARTY!!!! :D :D :D

It will be fun if we can all manage it. I haven't decided if I'm going to be going back to school next semester or not, etc...

Alan

Please refrain from mentioning your age whilst in the presence of your mother or myself :( Having prevailed through the upbringing of two such doltish louts as you and your brudder, we feel it is unfair to be dated, on top of everything else:p
