How about an Akonua. You don't seem to see as many of them as the Kalingas for some reason.

The First Buck Made Slipjoint Knife.

We like to call the Model 117 , lifeboat knife with replaced Buck made blade, as the first Buck slipjoint.

But for the hair splitters, it would be a Buck 'modified' knife. First Schrade and then Camillus contracted with Buck to make their series 300 slipjoint knives. Camillus continued to make some under the Buck name till 2000.

BUT, for you folks who speak the ABSOLUTE TRUTH (you know who you are), here is the first Buck Made Slipjoint. Beginning in late 1985 Buck brought home the manufactoring of the models 301, 303,309 and 305. To show the difference, Buck tried a scale escutcheon with indented and ink printed BUCK to replace the stamped knife, bolt and hammer shield used in the past. The new dating system was also used after a few undated slipjoints were made in late 85/early 86. The BUCK shield ink had a tendency to rub off with handling. That with some grumbling in the ranks casused them to switch back to the old shield in 1989. Blade steel was 425M. Represented here with photos of 301s. FYI. 300Bucks

Top: Last Camillus version, double back brass liners. Middle: The FIRST ALL BUCK, not date coded. Bottom: #2 Buck shielded AND date coded(86).

Left to Right as above. Shown to view double brass liners on last Camillus and first Bucks. Also note Buck 425M blades are ~.012 thicker than the Camillus blade (Likely 440A).

In 1967, the 124 NEMO dive knife and the FRONTIERSMAN appeared on the BUCK scene. The two were identical but for the composite Plastic like dive sheath for the NEMO and the leather flap over sheath for the FRONTIERSMAN. Joe says the first commercially available 300 to 500 had white Teflon spacers. The dive knife was somewhat of a failure since salt water got into the solid phenolic handle and corroded the tang thus weakening the knife. That 2 cents worth of teflon sure alters the value of those early 124s. I haven't often seen them as a pair.

Ooops, I thought you all said Klingon! I don't have a Kalinga Yet, But maybe I'll remedy that someday! I love the Micarta handles on those. ITE, You can always get a spa treatment done on your's, But you can't buy Patina like that! I like it the way it is.
Here is my SPS new addition. Just got it in this past week thanks to the BCCI ! One of the Micarta 110's with S30V blade made for the BCCI Rendevue at SMKW.

Some great photos, those Hoyt Bucks are really something! Thanks for the photos guys.:)

Dang, guys you've started out with barn burners; Kalinga's, Akonua (my favorite), early 124's, 300's and 110's from the Heritage Series  . Then Jerry's Bucks are from a different category ;) . Thanks guys! DM

AWESOME vintage knives. Those lucite handles are VERY cool!

I've shown these before but it looks like Kalinga day. No boxes or paperwork, but these are about my favorite Bucks:
