There is so many multitools out there and we all know the names of the best ones but i just wondered whats in all of your pockets , not whats back at home but the ones we all reach for every day for the little things and the big things in life .Do you carry more than one multitool ? Is it your main blade or do you carry another blade as well ? I hope with this topic we can find out what is the most carried multitool .

In My Front Pocket I Carry A Midnite Minichamp Ii

On My Belt I Carry A Charge Ti In My Bianchi Leather Case (this Is An Awesome Way To Carry The Charge). It Is Really Cool Because You Look Down And See The Charge, Since It Doesn't Completely Go Inside The Case, So About An Inch Is Sticking Out, Easy To Grab And Go, It Is My Favorite Multi-tool

Weekdays, old original Leatherman and Victorinox Huntsman, plus a Schrade stockman slipjoint.

Weekends usually Leatherman clip (sometimes Leatherman Juice S2) and a SAK (usually Farmer or Craftsman or Tinker), plus a Schrade stockman slipjoint.

I got a Leatherman Charge XTi for Christmas. It's been right there clipped into the pocket of my Levis every minute since. I agree that the sheath is poor and don't wear it, even though it has room for additional bits and a small flashlight. I like the option of a clip because I prefer this method of carry most days and other multis don't offer it.

The blade is very sharp and seems better overall than blades on other multi-tools.

I think this will be my EDC until LM or Vic or SOG or somebody tops it. What would I like to see changed/improved/added? Detachable file, awl instead of small screwdriver. Better sheath.

What do I hope they keep? One hand opening main tools, removable bits in the special flatter profile. Removable pocket clip.

carried a swisstool for a few years. in that time period, i kept comming back to letherman (always liked the plier jaws) Supertool and the wave. now i carry the new wave and am very happy with it.

Without question, my SOG PowerLock, the jaws are simply the best around IMHO.
In addition, a Small SAK (Farmer Usually) _or_ a small Spyderco is my main cutter.

It pays to accompany any multi-tool with an inexpensive SAK. Pliers and a seperate screw driver are a good combo.

I carried an LM wave in the past, LM Crunch, and a SAK Cybertool 41, but I like the PowerLock the most. If I could cram all the Cybertool tools into the SOG, It would be perfect. I considered the LM Charge, but since I hate the sheath, they need to find a way to store the bits on-board the tool ;) , Plus the bits are shorter than they should be (to fit the larger plier and keep the thing compact I guess).

Judging from comments/posts here and personal experience, I would say that currently the top multitools (in leatherman format) are (in no particular order): SOG PowerLock, Leatherman Charge XTi/Ti/Supertool, SwissTool (all models). Pros and cons for all variations. I currently carry an original LM Wave and am seriously considering augmenting/replacing with a Charge Ti, SuperTool 200, or SwissTool X. I tried the SOG last year in a passaround and found it too heavy, and didn't like the jaws because they didn't open as wide as my Wave.

Does this mean you're not carrying the LM Crunch/Cybertool 41 combo anymore? After trying many many multi tool combos, that's what I've been carrying for the past couple months.

However, I have been considering adding a SOG to the mix now too - only for the pliers. That's the main reason I carry the Crunch too - when you need a locking pliers, there's no substitute.

The SOG pliers are very strong and since I swapped around tools and added some to the PowerLock, I have just what I need, and not much more. Lighter than the Crunch/41 combo and easier to horizontal mount. I also like the one-hand opening ability of the SOG pliers.

Of course if I could fit all the 41 tools on the SOG and add a one hand 154CM or VG10 blade to it while keeping it the same size, and making the pliers lockable...

I will keep the Crunch/41 combo on deck though, it's the most complimentary combo I have ever found.

I've carried an original Wave in the leather belt sheath for a long time. It has served me well enough. But I recently ordered a Swisstool Spirit and ain't lookin' back. The Wave is going into forced retirement. Everything about this Swisstool Spirit just screams quality. They seem to be the best kept secret in the multitool world. Not many folks have 'em yet I suppose. It is far and away the best multitool I've ever handled.

I normally carry Leatherman Super Tool 200 in combo sheat with the tool adapter and extra bits, sometimes I carry only the Super Tool in it's own sheat.
This combo has served me well though I would like to have some inprovements in my SP 200. I think LM should replace the woodsaw with holder that would hold iron saw or woodsaw, like in the Gerber Multiplier 800 and also make a sheat that would hold the extra sawblades, tool, adapter and extra bits.

I'm thinking of adding Spyderco Spyderench to my SP 200 and tool adapter combo, because of it's pliers and adjustable wrench.Does someone have any experiences from the Spyderench?

I just ordered LM Juice Cs4 and I'm going to carry it in my pocket or in my backback when I can't carry my SP 200 on my belt.

.

Well, the Spyderench lacks wire cutters, but beyond that, I've heard great things about them. Good luck finding one cheap. They have been discontinued for some time. You might want to check ebay or the trade forums.

At the great Spydie factory, there is interest in an update to the Spyderench, but there is no word on if and when it will really happen.

My two favorites are the Wave (I have an original) and the Swisstool. I carry the Wave mostly but find the Swisstool awfully heavy...but extremely well made.

I visit a lot of remote worksites in Oz. Exploration drilling camps, offshore oil platforms, mine sites etc. My informal poll of every multi-tool I see on a belt has the Leatherman Supertool a clear winner, followed by the Leatherman Wave, the original Leatherman PST, then the Swisstool and assorted Gerbers/Bucks.

Personally I like the original Wave paired with a SAK Soldier - but my needs are not that heavy duty. I like the swiss tools as well but too heavy for me. Must check out the spirit.

My informal polls show similar results. Most of those folks have had the _original_ supertool since it came out years ago. Most don't even know about ANYTHING newer. Why should they, their supertool works just fine! I showed a fellow my LM juice and he thought it was a knock-off LM because his supertool was the only LM he had seen. I'd probably still be carrying my old wave if I had not found this forum. (My wallet would probably have appreciated that.. I now own serveral tools) :D You have to be a freak like us to buy every one until you get the _perfect_ tool.

My point? Most of the tools you see are there because they have been around long enough, not neccessarily because they are superior. :o

The Leatherman Charge. I have carried the SAK tool, SOG, Gerber, and Buck and they don't compare to this Leatherman Charge. My condolences the Leatherman. They did their homework on this one and the pocket clip makes this one special

Ok so just to recap there are quite a few differant tools being carried here but leatherman seems to be the most . Would any of you guys with the charge and new wave like to give an update to how its going and are you still edc them also what about the fuse and kick ? The supertool ( old and 200 ) is giving a good show as is the swisstool and sog , which i think all of which are accepted top end multitools . Has anyone broken a charge or new wave yet ?

I carry a Swisstool and Swiss Champion Plus. The Sog Powerlock is also excellent, imho. The knife blade being its only drawback to me. Try to find a shop that has a good variety of tools and try them out for "feel" if nothing else. The answer to which is the best multitool is as varied as "Who makes the best beer?" ,etc. Find one or two that work for you.
