I'm looking for some quality knife blanks like what Bob Engnath used to produce. Is anyone making "diy" blanks of the quality and variety that Bob did? It gets old seeing the same stuff from all the supply houses, and nothing in 154CM or ATS-34 or any of the newer steels like BG42 or 440V. I was talking back and forth almost daily with Bob when he passed away. I only got 2 of his blanks. He was a great guy and willing to share his knowledge. He is greatly missed.

Stay tuned!

I actually studied knifemaking under Bob. Spent untold hours in his shop with him watching over my shoulder.

I am releasing a makeshift catalog of some blanks (ala Blades n Stuff) soon. I am also going to give Stevie a call and ask if I can reproduce some of Bob's designs. Anybody interested in recieving a catalog, just send a SASE to

Catalog will be more of a flier until I learn how to work the stupid program I got for doing it.

Lonnie Hansen is moving to all high carbon steel as he's doing his own heat-treating.

He had several of his 440V blades for sale at the NorthWest Knife Show a couple weeks ago that were very well ground, and he had them heat-treated by Paul Bos.

I'm sure Lonnie would be more than happy to sell you a few.

His web-site is http://www.lchansen.com

You won't be disappointed in his grinds/quality...the guy is great

There was a gentleman in Eugene the last two years selling cast versions of some of Bob Engnath's designs. He had blades, guards, bolsters, etc. It looked like quality work to me (kit form of course). I forget his name but he was in the left hand corner as you entered the convention center, right next to where Blades 'n' Stuff used to set up--in the same spot occupied by the late Colonel Applegate for a number of years. Perhaps someone else remembers the name of the fellow in question. Both of the former occupants of that corner of the room will be missed.

Please take your seats gentlemen; oh, and flip 'em if you've got 'em.
