Hey guys,

It's never too early to start making a Christmas list! I have been interested in Rat Cutlery since late summer, but decided not to go for one untill the RC-6s came more available. I typically believe that an outdoor/camping/hiking/survival knife needs to be at least 6in. in blade length. However, I have been thinking and I think that there are a lot of advantages to have a smaller blade when using it for those applications. Definitely the weight issue. I love having my KA BAR camp knife on me when camping but man is it heavy! My USMC fighter isn't quite as heavy, but with it at 12in. overall, and the Camp knife at about 13in.,they get pretty cumbersome on my belt. So I'm thinking about putting an RC4 PE on the list. Any objections?

since you already have that big camp knife, you may want to get an RC-3 for smaller chores and such. Or you could replace that camp knife with an RC-6 and get an RC-3 as well ;)

I think you'll end up with all 3.

The RC4 is really good when you're going on a "one-knifer".

The RC3 and RC6 make a good small/medium combo.

I think the RC-4 is THE perfect all around ONE knife to get! I go into deep woods hunting and dropped my BK-9 etc. for the RC-4 and a Kershaw Scallon that's clipped on me wherever I go. Just MHO but i seee no advantages to the 6 and the 4 is easier to use.

I was ready to pop for an RC-6 yesterday to go on the side of my Falcon II pack, but I'm just not too fond of the sheath. I went with another RC-4 instead in tan. I have a GB Small Forest Axe for chopping chores so I didn't feel the need for the bigger blade on the RC-6 and the orange RC-4 I have on one of my small kits it sized perfectly for an "all-around" blade. Of course that doesn't mean I don't need an RC-6 too, but maybe I'll hold off until they come out in orange.
