Thinking about buying my first Strider.

AR or GB folder.

Stocking dealer.

Needs to be able to take American Express or AMEX via PAYPAL.

I've done some searches here, but looking for up-to-date info....opinions...etc.

PM or email.

Thanks very much in advance.

G'day Champ, I can personally asure you that you will not be disappointed if you get the AR. I have one and love it. It is a TRUE tactical folder, very strong, great lockup and superb cutting geometry. That S30V steel to fantastic. I have not handled a GB but the construction is the same, the only difference is the tanto blade.

As for where you can get one - there are quite a few sites that sell them - all for around $350 but you will have to wait. They sell out extremely fast as soon as they hit the stores. The wait is worth it though, you just have to be patient. I had to wait about 6 weeks for mine. The GB is usually in stock and doesn't sell quite as fast as the AR.

Regards

Peter

In the past, I carried a BM Stryker for several years. After that, I carried a Sebenza for about 18 months.

Thanks to Zach Chalmers, the only other Strider nut in my area, I got to handle both an AR and a GB in July. I rec'd my S30V AR August 1. I rec'd my DB September 12. I say all this to let you know that I'm familiar with Tantos, specifically the GB.

IMHO, Strider makes the best folders out there, period. The AR is my personal favorite. IMHO, Strider makes the best Americanized Tanto blades.

Probably because of the impending release of the SnG, ARs are very rare right now. I have a feeling Strider is working overtime getting the SnGs produced.

As Peter said, "The GB is usually in stock and doesn't sell quite as fast as the AR." If you want a Strider folder in the next few weeks, the GB will be your best bet. If you like Tantos, the GB will definitely put a smile on your face for a VERY long time!

BTW, I got my AR and DB from Matt D. He's listed on the Strider site. I don't know if he takes American Express or AMEX via PAYPAL. He seems to be get more Strider folders than just about anybody and he's a joy to work with...
