Hello all. I am thinking about getting an inexpensive small axe for CQB purposes.
Saw their ad in BLADE. Interested.

I am looking at the McGowan model# 1211.
I am not the biggest expert on these.
Stamped4.5" blades of "cutlery-grade" 420 stainless steel.
I saw a copy of Keating's Axe and tomahawk video. Got me thinking.
Any opinions? Suggestions?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Brian

420 is not very good steel. Stainless is generally a bad idea for an ax. Try Ragweed Forge, and H&B Forge. I have 4 H&B hawks, and love them all.

Get an ATC vietnam tactical. They rock for CQB.

I have one of those too. My first Tomahawk. Great little weapon.

On a side note, I need to talk to ya'll about a sheath for my SOG Desert Dagger.

I'll PM ya.

ATC makes great products. If cost is your first concern. Try the Brend hawk by ATC. It is under 100.00 and really rocks too. I plan on getting more ATC products, but started with the Brend, for initial cost reasons. Next will be the Hayes. I love bearded ax blades in general!!
