Hey, Gang, I'm considering the Queen fixed canoe in D2. I'm looking for a review, pics, or just your blunt honest opinion. Thanks!

Hi,

I don't know why there isn't more love for Queen's fixed blades. D2 steel with amber stag bone handles all for under $50. I want the canoe model myself. And I'm not real big on fixed blades.

I have a 4180 in Micarta, and love it. The sheath isn't very secure, but the edge holding is great. I thinned mine out (too much at first), then put a micro bevel on it, it takes about 20 strokes to sharpen on a dmt blue/red, and is an incredible bargain.

I highly recommend it!

I've got one in Green Maple and it looks very handsome.Well put together, but you guessed it, I can't really get much edge on that D2. Maybe it's because it's thicker steel than the pocket knives in D2? Mind you, the RAT 3 I have in Ram's Horn/D2 came ultra sharp and is easy to touch up, if they can do it.......

Blunt opinion?
This Queen came sharp!!! All I did was run it over the Extra Fine DMT.

I have a Premium Hunter #4180 drop point in lazered oak handles with a full tang 3 1/2" D2 blade at more than 1/8th" thick.
The sheath is deep and holds the knife well, just the leather strap of the belt holder that is rivited into the sheath might weaken in time

For $40 it is an amazing knife !!!!
I have no idea why folk do not rave about it as the best deal in town for a hunting knife.

I would love to know if the knife would fit into a RAT 3 sheath...

Are the bone handled knives full tang?

I'm surprised. Only four members with these? Makes me wonder if I should go a different route.

Nah, I want one.

It's simply because most people here favour pocket-knives more.

You won't be disappointed with a Queen sheath-knife I can be sure of that:thumbup:

I have some. 2 came reasonably sharp the other 2....pretty dull. No worries.......my paper wheels eat D2 like butter. :)

They are great values in my opinion.

Good point. I, too, prefer folders. Thank you for your comments. I plan on getting one, either way. Just nice to hear that you echo my sentiments.

I have one of their stacked leather D2 bladed #92 drop points. It's leather sheath is 'okay'. It is small - considerably smaller than a Buck 102 Woodsman. There is a locking pin for the blade on the back of the finger guard that is a bit rough. It was ~$32 years ago - a bargain, even if I was a bit shocked by it's size. The nearly four inch blade edge has a small/even bevel that, although not a razor, is fairly sharp the entire length. The stacked leather handle grip is very well done, making up for the shock of the small size. Comfortable - sort of - grip for my medium+ hands.

I have a couple of their "Light Hunters" With the Amber bone handles they are full tang and they are excellent knives for the money. I think pretty much every body likes D-2 once you get it profiled they way you like it. To me the steel is worth the extra work. :)
