I had the "pleasure" of visiting a variety of forums today....some not by choice....and it just reminded me of how nice it really is to have this forum.

A place to hang out and shoot the breeze.

A place to learn.

A place to share.

And most importantly, a place to buy some Khukuris for dirt cheap!! :D

It's nice to be able to say that, comparitively....we are practically "mall-ninja-rat" free here......

Yes, we've had trolls....heated discussions....people come and go....but one thing has not changed:

If you want to learn about all-things-khukuris, This is the Place to Be.

Many thanks to everyone here and Thanks to Bill & Yangdu for keeping this place Alive.

Agreed. Bunch of folks contribute to the atmosphere here, self-maintaining the ambiance, and treating each other with courtesy, respect, and tolerance.

'Course, it helps to have "Rusty, the ENFORCER" roaming the halls, slapping his thigh with a karma sutra-oiled khuk. :D

This is my favorite place on the web. I have spent more time here since I've been on the Internet than anywhere.

Y'know we really got it all here. We've got good guys, some bad guys, elders, veterans, young warriors and even a princess or two. More than once, we've even had volunteers for the village idiot. Like a good community, if we have trouble we usually all work together to wreak havoc, I mean resolve the problem.

I could not agree more.

I find myself spending more time here lately.
Mostly reading and searching.

I just finished reading up on re-finishing wood handles and some posts from Walosi. It is places like this where peoples kindness and knowledge will be there even after they have passed away.

Who is the princess?

Does this post make me the village idiot?

Bravo, Dan. The khukuri-vortex. Once you're in, you're in.

Spin, learn, share & read the news. Be a part. Contribute.

Come in for the knives. Stay for the fun.

Village idiot, I'm ribbing about an old post, I think Bruise was kidding about claiming the title at one time.

Actually, we rotate daily so everyone can take a turn.

We just don't advertise the DOTD anymore ( Dolt Of The Day ).

That would be insensitive of us. ( One of these days I'll have to post the photograph I have of a southbound mule standing next to a northbound horse. It was taken from the south end if you must know. )

...there have been a few times here where I've been exposed to "wisdom overload." I just couldn't soak it all up at one time. Too much from too many sources. Not that I'm complaining.

There have been times where I've been blinded by philosophy. I didn't understand it (or even that a message was being sent) at the time. I got it the next day, or the day after that, or a week later. There are a few that I'm still working on.

I don't even bother with usenet anymore. I haven't sent a hateful message to someone on the Internet in weeks and haven't screamed at a person face to face since yesterday. (It was warranted.) This forum - more importantly, the people on this forum - have had a profound effect on me.

I wound up with a bunch of khuks too.

There's a lesson in this...I just haven't figured it out yet. Give me a few days.

I'd give you a chiclet but I'm tapped out right now.

I have been spoiled by Bladeforums and SFI. However there is far less retraining required for the khuk world than the sword world.

If I don't get a response to a post within 6 hours I start to get worried about my internet connection. If someone starts flaming someone I think "what is wrong with these people." If a noncoherent arguement pops up on netiquette I chuckle and wonder what people care so much. There is none (or at least very little) of that on either SFI or HI@bladeforums.

With that I resound your three cheers.

Couldn't say it any better.

Some times I talk about you guys to my best friend at work. She has a hard time understanding how you can feel so close to people you haven't ever met face to face. It's understandable. You just have to be here.

i agree too bladeforums and HI Imports forum are the best.i have had the pleasure to meet a few people i have became friends with on line and it is great to be able to put a face to the person you meet on line.last year i invited leatherman aka dwayne to come out and stay at my house for the weekend while we we went to a knife show in meza,az. it was great to meet the person i had became friends with on line

I don't do to the other bladeforums anymore, don't like it much there. I have to agree though that this is a great place. It's also my favorite place in the net.

Thought I have so far not posted much, I have been reading and learning stuff for a while now. Sometimes I learned something new, sometimes I rediscovered something old. I reall appreciate it, thanks a lot guys.

regards,

Keno

This is a good place.

this is the place that i go to first thing when I come into the office. This is the place I check back with at the last minute before i leave. The funny thing is, it's not about khuks or UBBB or anything that I can get onsale. I check back in because I have friends here. It's important to me to know what's going on in people's lives before i go home. I want to know how Yvsa's granddaughter is doing, what LR thinks about his new job, and what kinds of truths that munk has yet again uncovered cutting wood with his boys. All of these things are more important to me than I ever thought they would be. I'm happy to be a memeber of the Cantina.
Great thread, Dan. Chiclets for you:)
