(For legal purposes) I was wondering if there is any none fixed bladed knives that make good throwing knives? Like a pocket knife or a butterfly knife? I know how to throw a butterfly knife like a throwing star but thats about it. Regual pocket knifes or butterfly knifes don't have the balance to be thrown but I guess that if one was designed right it could be done right?

Not sure what kind of balisong (butterfly) knife you throw, I know I wouldn't throw my BM's!!! Way to much $$$ there to screw up. Do a search, I personally responded to this same questions about 4 weeks ago...

My grandfather once gave me a beatin' for throwin' a folding knife! Back when it was legal to beat your kids. And grandkids!
Those were the days. :D

I have thrown a CRKT M18-04 at cardboard and foam targets with no damage. I dont think many folding knives would hold up to repeated throwing at wood, and most wouldnt hold up to the cardboard. Why would you ever need to throw a folder? fixed blades are in every way superior throwers.

This question reminds me of my friend who has a mall ninja idea of throwing his knife in a fight. Not exactly a practical idea.

On the other hand, almost any knife can be thrown. Folders as well. It just isnt recommended, and will likely lead to a broken tip and/or loose pivot.
