Throwing **WOW**

Sweet video :D very intertaining. Though I dunno about those leather pantelones :p I thought they were only acceptable on a motorcycle for safety or in the form of assless chaps in TonyG's neck of the woods. Kinda hard to take a guy serously that's wearing leather pants. Unless of course he's throwing a knife at you. But hey, that's why browning designed the 1911 right? As protection from leather pant wearing knife throwing master guys. I've got to stop posting with a large Tanqueray and tonic in hand....after dowing a couple prior :p

Ralph Thorn is a friend of mine and is probably the worlds best all around throwers. He is also a member here. He has a skill that has been unmatched by any modern day knife thrower. I'm sure if anyone wishes to talk about his clothing, he would be more than happy to speak with you.

Bobby, think he can hook me up with some of those pantalones?

The pair Dwayne made for me has apparently shrunk , and I now look like an overweight, out-of-work rock star when I try to wear them. :grumpy:

Very cool, no-spin throwing, David!

Is this more crazy-mad skillz or can anyone do something similar. Dang if he can't throw from any distance. That'd be a cool parlor trick. Sort of like Geena Davis in Long Kiss Goodnight. (Dang that movie is 12 yrs old!)

I don't know much about no-spin, but it sure seems like it would simplify throwing from different distances.

Hey Bobby, those are some nice throwing knives on your site.

No problem, just wanted to let everyone know that he is the real deal and not Dr. Ninja. We already have a few of those in the knife throwing world.
Ralph is actually very humble about his throwing and does not like to travel. He is self taught and learned all of this the hard way. I am good out to about 15-20 feet with the no spin, but Ralph is the man. He has author a book on the subject and has some interesting threads in the knife throwing forum where this thread should probably be so as to not clutter up Jerry's forum.

Moved at Bobby Branton's request.

WOW is right, he has outstanding ability.

Thanks for sharing David.

Ralph's the real deal, and a heckuva cool guy to boot.

And yes, he posts *right here* fairly often.

The leather and other outfits, the trick throws and the showing off were to make the video attract attention for a style of throwing that, at that time, was totally unknown. It's a big internet with a lot of videos on it and I didn't have much of a budget, but I needed to do something to make the video noticeable. There is always an element of showmanship to knife throwing, anyway, and I had to compete with professional performers. I don't regret it and I don't take offense when people make fun of it. My cameraman made more fun of me that anyone. He said I looked like an extra from Star Wars.

Thanks for the nice comments. Future videos won't feature leather pants. They are very heavy and restrict movement a great deal, and I can't fit in them as easily at 38 as I could at 32 when I first started filming.

Ralph, thanks for taking the ribbing like a real man. You do have that Han Solo look going on, but then Han Solo kicked ass back in the day.

Let me echo the folks here who are impressed by your throwing. I've never seen anyone throw from different distances, with different blades, with as much accuracy. Practice and dedication obviously stand behind that vid.

Han Solo's brother - the deadliest man on 9 systems. . . with a knife. Raised by old Vaudvillians. OK, I'm going too far. LOL

Here's a tip to make your video more noticable, get some chix in it.
Have them cheer you on (lots of oooh/aaah , thats amazing responses),
hold some targets, and bounce :D
Teach one of them to throw :D
