I'd like to try carrying my Cuda Maxx tip up but haven't got the balls to drill and tap the holes myself. I know I'll screw it up! Does anybody know of a shop or a maker that does this kind of work?

There's a forum member by the name of Dirk that does that sort of thing. A wave-able Cuda Maxx is a great thing. In my opinion the best self defense folder around.

Dirk is definitely the one to talk to. I had him modify two of mine, plus a Darrel Ralph Madd Maxx. He did excellent work.

I do have to admit, rather sheepishly, that after carrying them tip-up for a few months I eventually switched back to tip-down. I never had any problems with them coming open or with anything else. I just gradually figured out that I'm faster and more reliable when presenting from the tip-down position with these particular knives.

I prefer tip-up carry for almost everything, I've had a bunch of knives modified to allow it, but for large flipper designs I'm better with tip-down. Even stranger, I don't actually use the flippers when I'm in a hurry, I just "Brownie Pop" them open as they clear my pocket.

Shoot me an e-mail for any particulars. It's a quick and easy process and I usually get the knife headed back your way the day after I get it. :)
