Tired of Knife Throwing? Try Knife Kicking!

It's an interesting trick... similar to getting a bear to ride a tricycle.

But tactical value? It's tough enough convincing a lot of people that throwing a blade has any intrinsic value...and then we see a guy kicking blades into a target circus-style.

Yikes. By my count, it takes him three seconds to do so. I hope he admits that's purely show demonstration, and doesn't think it's a serious training drill.

Not that throwing blades is solely about tactical application--I know a lot of people do it because it's freaking fun. But the Systema guys aren't about fun, allegedly. So what are they claiming with this?

You said it... exactly my thoughts.

I'd really have to use my imagination to think of a tactical senario in which you would kick a knife.

Here the best I can do:

You are holding a knife. Your opponent orders you to drop your weapons. You comply by "dropping" your knife so that it sticks handle-up. Then you kick it.

I hope the knife isn't sharp, otherwise he may be throwing some toes with the knife:eek:

Ungarelli, when you kicked your blade you kicked the top and it spun into the tree, if you watch the original video closely you can see that he kicks the blade under the center of mass and it contacts his foot in 2 places and his foot acts like a launcher he isn't kicking it as much as he is flinging it off his foot. The butt of the blade appears to go right in the curve of his foot.
