I've been tinkering around with lanyards and have been looking around the net for different Bead ideas besides the tactical skulls. I have found that the "Pandora" beads will probably works and there are alot to choose from but not many are very masculine. Then I stumbled on this site.

I think if you didn't really care about how much you spent on your Lanyard embellishments this would be a wicked way to go.

I am actually thinking about ordering this one for my small plain sebbie.

Maybe I'll come to my senses by tomorrow.

I like the bead - the blue matches the thumb stud and spacer. Your right, if you don;t have a budget for embellishments, it would be great. I go back and forth on lanyards on my EDC. One day they're off and another they are on. I'm going to stick to my camo 550 cord for now.

Some of those beads were real works of art , hence the price.

A little too girlyman though IMO for a knife lanyard.

I think they would sell a lot more beads if they offered them in plain styles with plain titanium color that one could color themselves.
In that style they would be very easy to heat color.

IMO, knives are tools, and I certainly don't want any beads hanging on my screwdrivers and wrenches.

I agree, but if you used a handmade, $50+, prized screwdriver on the boat or at the lake, a slider "bead" will keep the lanyard from slipping off of your wrist.

According to the company the hole is 4mm in width. I think that will accomodate two strands of paracord.

I am going to see if they can remove some of the "pretty" and just make a smooth bead maybe with a couple of rings that were annodized blue to match the sebenza's thumb stud.

This company doesn't market their products for knife, flashlight, lanyard type collectors. They probably don't even know that market exists. I figure I'll email them and see. After all how much more work can it be to 'not' decorate a titanium bead.

In case somebody doesn't see a need/interest in this......

I know I have read quite a few requests for beads for lanyards on BF, JD and CPF forums and no one really comes up with anything other than the tactiskulls. I know I'm not the only one at least mildly interested in this, just take a look at many of the knife pics on this site and others, there's a friggin lanyard on it. Some of them simple and some of them are small works of art.

Have you though of going to a bead shop? Check the Yellow Pages under Sewing Supplies, or even under Beads. Craft shops usually have a fair selection as well.

At the price of those titanium beads I could get a flight to the best bead shop I ever saw--in Chiang Mai, Thailand. I got some silver beads, some glass slave beads, and a variety of ivory and miscellaneous beads all for less than $15.

I use pewter tube beads which you can get in a variety of designs and sizes from craft/bead shops. The "bay" has a good selection. I've seen the Pandora and similar bracelet beads and they are pretty nice with larger holes. Where I'm at they run about $3+ a bead depending on what you want. I found some nice wood turned beads of laminated wood and they make great lightweight additions to the lanyards as well.

I had a titanium bead made up to attach to the end of a lanyard. I'm still waiting to see what it costs. I figure about $70. I figure If I can spend 400 on a knife I can spend another 70 or so to make it look like I want.

To me, it seems a bit crazy to spend $70 for one bead, but I see your point. If you're going to spend that much on a knife, you might as well spend a bit more to make it exactly what you want. I think that the bead you chose will look pretty sweet on you sebbie. I just wish I had that kind of cash though. LOL.

Wow -- a $75-125 bead for a lanyard. To each his own. I'm sure I'd like it but i'd be afraid people would find out how much I spent for a bead. The list is long of things that would have to come first.:D

How about purchasing some Titanium tubing and putting your own grooves/knurling on that? Use a Mini lathe or drill press and cut off what length you need. Polish it up and put it on a lanyard. Probably cheaper than having special beads made up. Just a thought.
