I really like my current gear, a tatonka 1L pot/pan
Tatonka_Kettle_B.jpg
and a stainless cup for my nalgene bottle, I just wish it was lighter.

Is there aa cup that will fit the 1L nalgene bottle?

So far this is the most appealing replacement for the tatonka, I'd prefer a pot with a bail though.

As for cutlery, I usually just sport a spoon and chop sticks, but a titanium spork like this one wouldn't be bad.

Not into the traditional sporks, I need a proper spoon at minimum.

All of this stuff is obscenely expensive though. Where can you find some good deals?

Is it a nice snug fit? I'd like to fit it in the pocket on my maxpedition thats fit specifically for the 1L bottle.

Anyone know if this one does the trick?

The Snow Peak Mini Solo fits perfectly with the 32oz bottle. I put it the bottle holder of my Maxpedition Jumbo Versipack on day trips. I can take pics tomorrow if you want (it is already to dark to get good pics).

you can buy a full personal ti kit from REI for 54 dollars. It's about the size of two fists completely packed and weighs a few ounces.

I have the nylon version of the LMF spork and love it, may eventually upgrade to the ti version, for the extra stiffness in the utensil.

Sorry, can't really help you on the ti cookware...

Nice BigK !!

Thanks for sharing your pics so fast and welcome to W&SS!

Thanks for confirming this. Pics aren't necessary, but if you want to take them I'd enjoy seeing them.

I need one with the frying pan though, bannock and fish are staples when I'm in the bush.

I really wish I could get a pot with a bail, I cook almost exclusively on open fires.

Thanks Big K! Those pics really add perspective.

This is my cook kit, and I love it! I use it mostly for boiling water for freezedried food, but I'm planning on making some bannock in the pan this next trip.
The pot is just slightly wider than the one in the solo kit, so it should fit your nalgeen just fine. Not sure how it would fit with the pan underneath it though...

Oh, and for the titanium pots that don't have bails, get your drill out, make holes on opposite sides, and use some wire to make a bail. It isn't that difficult...

It holds a fuel bottle, my pocket rocket stove, my wind screen, titanium spork, and a little bottle of soap and a cut off piece of sponge.

P.S. This is the spork I have and it's awesome:

Wow 5.5 ounces. I may have to put that snow peak on my Christmas list.:D

Hey bigk, how does it fit in that 10X4? Can you get both the cup and pot in there? I know my GSI is really snug.

That's a really nice setup you have there, Big K!

Here's what I'm currently using. Only one ti piece - A Snow Peak Single Wall 600 mug. Mated with a 1l SIGG stainless steel bottle.

The mug is a little larger than the bottle, but if I put the mesh bag for the cup around the rim, and then tuck it into the cup, I find the bottle nests snugly and there is no noise.

Ankar, the ti stuff is nice, but yes, it is pricey. I suggest getting an REI membership (if you don't already have one). Several times a year, REI will have sales, during which members will get a coupon for 20% off one regularly priced item (per sale). Also, check out Campsaver.com, and get on their emailing list. They have 20% off specials now and then, too. They also have other occaisional sales offering deeper discounts. All but one of my ti ware pieces has come from Campsaver, and all of it was purchased with a coupon or on sale. They offer free shipping on orders over $50, too.

Snow Peak isn't the only game in town – although they make awesome stuff. Here's more options in cups/pots that fit a nalgene:

Evernew has a whole lineup. I personally like the looks of the ULTRA-LIGHT DEEP POT 0.64L for solo cooking or drinking use. The rounded-over design might make the lid less prone to warp (which I think is common for flat, titanium lids). I also prefer this style of handle. I wouldn't bother with the non-stick version – coatings just don't last.

Vargo gives their Titanium ' Ti-lite' Mug a strainer lid – very handy.

I'm not a big fan of the "Light my Fire" spork design.
It is better than the traditionnal spork desigh (useless fork and poor spoon) but I find it too large for easy storage and fork teeth are too thick making it somewhat awkward to use.

After various tests I have settled with the Primus pliable spork.
http://bepreparedtosurvive.com/PrimusFoldableSpork-AllThree.Original.CW.jpg

Both spoon and fork are traditionnal design and fully functionnal.
It is big enough to be comfortable to use.
It is light and folds very compact.
While it is all plastic and looks gadget/clumsy it has hold up pretty good so far for me.
A bit expensive for what it is.

As for utensils, I used a spork for years, but found that I never really used the fork tines. So a couple years ago, I invested part of my REI dividend in a long-handled ti spoon:

I can still pick up pieces of steak with the spoon, and the long handle is great for eating directly out of a Mountain House freeze-dried meal bag. Sure, I could have just as well used a long-handled iced tea spoon, but ugh - steel flatware is SOOOOO heavy! ;)

I have the same Ti spoon as Hikeeba, man that is nice for cooking out the jetboil as it actually reaches the bottom of the mug.
Diggin' the MSR set, I'm interested to hear about them when you get to use em'.
