I posted this in the general discussion area too, so no need to double up.... but....

Do any of you USE the lanyard on your fixed blade knives? If so, how, why, etc.

Thanks.

Jon

They kind of get in the way, but if I were working over the side of a boat (probably wouldn't have this knife) or deep snow, or someplace where the knife could be lost I would use it. IMO its in the way the rest of the time.

I use a wrist loop, and kinda like'em. The one problem I've experienced with my Project over the past three or four years of ownership is that the buttcap will tend to loosen during prolonged chooping(like felling a tree, and yes, I've used my Project 1 to drop sizable trees). With a wrist strap through the lanyard hole, You'll never loose the buttcap.

I use the lanyard on my Shadow IV and have no problems with it(as long as I remain aware of it

).
I have considered putting them on some of my other Fixed blades but as yet have "resisted" the urge.
Overall, I like 'em.

Hi
I myself like lanyards on all my knifes, Are they in the way sometimes yes. My motto is better to have and not need, than to need and not have. Sometimes you need one sometimes you don't. Just my 2 cents. Al

Fixed blade or not, be sure that you make the lanyard have a weak spot. Taking the core out of the center of paracord about 1/2" on both ends and heat sealing the ends is one method which has been mentioned several times.

Otherwise you might find yourself hanging in a very awkward position. For a long time.

If you tie the lanyard in a fob it is not really in the way, and you have a length of line if you need it, which you will someday.
