When I first came to know Himalayan Imports and Uncle Bill in 1999, I couldn't imagine such a day would come. HI enthusiasts khunvention in Tokyo! Six guys draggiing bags with tons of khukuris and other edged steel in it... So we gathered. Let me share my joy and fun with forumites. Hope you enjoy.

Some of our khukuris are like

and other likes, including traditional felling knives (top left)

all of us find a khukuri both usable and collectible, here's one example of "daily chore" khukuri - a BAS.

Nice pics wrongfriend:)

I really wish I could have been at that one!! A trip to Japan AND a Khuk Konvention--doesn't get any better than that!:)

Do you have any pics of the other people there, or was there just the two of you (person holding camera and the guy shaving)?

Thank you very much for sharing the images of your knives and the khukries. It was a pleasure to see such beautiful edged tools.

Thank you also for helping this American see across the ocean.

Glad to hear you enjoyed the pix!
Seeing and holding so many khukuris in my hand was so good an experience for me. Long Sirupati, lignt BAS, gorgeous Kothimoda, handy Kumar Karda, many variation of Kagas Katnes, and other HIs.

All of those big, thick, wicked blades came from Nepal via Reno to Japan! Thank you Uncle, for your effort... BTW what is Kokyu? Only Kokyu I know is Chinese one string violin.

Uncle, Mr.Ueda was not there but hope he'll join some day. But all of Japanese fans do not forget his contribution in making HI khukuris popular among knife knuts in Japan. Customer don't have to worry about customs any longer as he sells what he has already in stock.

Ferrous Wheel, Do Itashimashite. There were other pix of khukuris, kukuri like knives, other knives piled up on tables. When I find more interesting ones, I'll post it.

Is your screen name come from old torturing / executioning tool?

I think I will come to Japan next year for HI Khukuri Convention. Maybe Kokyu Oi Chan will let me sleep in his shop since I cannot afford Tokyo hotel.

Uncle, you're always welcome at my place if not as roomy as Mr. Ueda's shop. I'll be glad if you can drop in while your stay. It'll be a great news when you come to Japan!

One of my fellow knife fan's courtesy, here are some more pix at the 1st khunvention pix, and the 2nd khunvention pix.
Again there are no faces in the pix. We know each other very well, and nobody seemed interested in taking pix of faces of each other.... Next time I'll take care to have some pix of khunventioners, hopefully including Uncle Bill.

Just a wonderful collection of edged weapons. I'm sure all present enjoyed themselves. Not too much Saki I hope.:D

Pappy, all of us enjoyed the whole day over tea and beer! HI enthusiastic population is not so many, but everybody seemed quite content with what they have purchased. Sake is too dangerous with such big, formidable blades all around us, especially in summer when our hands get very slippery. Hope we'll have some kind of world Khunvention some day.

Uncle, I guess you can travel around the world without worrying where and how much to stay. Many people in many places will welcome your stay.
