Anyone have any experience with Tom Black? He had a real nice camp/utility knife at the Guild show at an excellent price.

Just curious if anyone has seen/used his knives.

To RM Lamey,
I have had the pleasure of meeting Tom Black, twice during the past two years. This knifemaker works to the highest standards and has won many awards for his work. I have one of his simple utility knives and the workmanship (for a simple working knife) is impeckable. I have seen and handled a few of the long knives he is famous for and there are faboulous examples of the knifemaker art.
You will be satisfied with any and all of his work, as one of the small group of the very best of the Guild Members.

I met Tom Black at his shop about five or six tears ago and was extremely impressed with both his work and his manner. Tom is a true gentleman, generous with advice and , at least in my case, patient with a relatively new maker loaded with dumb questions.

With regard to his work I concur with BG 42 entirely, and if you can pick up one of Toms knives at what you consider a good price, I certainly reccomend you do so.

Hope this helps...GARY B
