Tom Ferry custom Damascus and gold "Hannya" tanto folder.
The engraving on this one is insane. The geometric pattern on actually changes in the light from a "qbert" style to a basket weave. The Hannya demon is tearing its way out of the random damascus accented in gold and the eyes actually will flash at you in the appropriate lighting. perfect file and vine engraving throughout with gold stipple work at either end and a phenomenal, tightly patterned damascus blade.

I looked up the Hannya demon and thought I would share. The hannya mask is specifically used to represent a vengeful and jealous woman. Her anger and envy have so consumed her that she has turned into a demon, but with some important traces of humanity left. The pointed horns, gleaming eyes, fang-like teeth, combined with a look of pure resentment and hate are tempered by the expression of suffering around the eyes and the artfully disarrayed strands of hair, which indicate passionate emotion thrown into disorder. The deeper and more extreme the coloring of the face, the deeper and more violent run the emotions of the character.

So I am about to get married in a few months and after reading about origin of the Hannya my feet have gotten noticeably cooler. (!)

That is one awesome blade you have there. I love tom's work anyway but this one really appeals to me

Sh!t! Doesn't get radder than that!

When Tom showed me this knife I said Dam Tom how are you going to ever top that. Tom said I don't know. Very nice Blake.

Hannya is a very popular image for tattoos as well, and a principal in Noh theater. Often, she starts out as a normal female, and as the performance proceeds, she morphs into Hannya.

The male analogy is Shikami, which represents masculine rage. There are examples of these masks the go back to the 1500's.
