Top 10 things I'm waiting patiently for:

1. Blue Native
2. new and improved Sharpmaker
3. carbon fiber Dragonfly
4. plain-edged Goddard Lightweight
5. Rolling Lock Military
6. Tenure and promotion
7. Tactical Knives magazine
8. Victoria's Secret catalog
9. repeal of stupid knife legislation
10. free Spyderco goodies

But I'm not complaining. I mean, let's face it: sometimes bad things happen to good people. And a million human beings starved to death in the Siege of Leningrad, right? So I'm keeping things in perspective.

Here is a poem for you to enjoy. It's about sorrow, and pride, and the sound of far-away things.

"Mirage"

The sound of forests, unfolding wings,
and the sea, absent and chaste,
laughing its coy petrels...

And what if you could inhale water
into your lungs and breathe beneath the sea?

Ah, the sun beats me to death,
making me beautiful.

Wow, that was really nice. I mean it, I wish I could bring everybody a breath of fresh air like that, right in the middle of an internet forum. Unfortunately, I only write terrible Haiku:

He hangs, tranquil ghost
Silent form in deep blue space
Dumb fish, get a job!

-Corduroy

P.S. - I am also waiting anxiously for the RL Military; these nice folks have convinced me to ignore my experiences with the first run and pick one up, and now I have to wait until the new lock is out!

And another knife Haiku:

"My wife's no knife nut
Must buy my knives in secret
Where to hide this one."

Hi,

Here is my list ( I hope I can get to 10)

1. Surefire new lens assembly for my 6P which gives 120 lumens !!! - run tiem down to 20 minutes but who cares !

2. Spyderco New Sharpmaker (comeon Sal get it done with this stupid instructional video).

3. New Surefire M3 flashlight.

4. To see if the Marine Tuf-CLoth really works (I treated all my collection with this stuff - replacing the good old BreakFree I don't why I did it because the BreakFree was perfect in protection) - One thing I really don't like about the Tuf-Cloth is the traces it leaves on the blades - kinda ugly. I hope it protects as good as the BreakFree.

5. I wait to have some more money to spend on knives after I really lost control and bought over a period of 6 weeks: Civilian, Ontario-Bagwell Hell's Belle, Chris Reeve Large Sabenza, Chris Reeve Shadow IV, Pat Crawford Point Guard Aluminum - and believe me I am not a rich man.

6. Waiting for my local dealer to order a Plainedge Military (I have the serrated).

7. Same as #6 for the Matriach.

Sorry , cant make it to ten

Corduroy,

That's funny.

I'm going to recite your haiku to my 13 year old boy, who has been standing at the curb for a week now, waiting for UPS to bring his Cold Steel Norseman tomahawk. We watched "The Last of the Mohicans" (recent version) for the third time, after which I dug out my tomahawk and started chunking it into the woodpile. Now he is hooked and I'm having to repeat dire warnings about what will happen if the 'hawk ends up in the side of the house or one of the trees.

"But do as I say; not as I do."

Is it haiku if it rhymes?

Yeah, yeah, it's funny 'cause you aren't standing at the window right now, waiting for your Calypso! Grrrr...it better be here today, always very fast where I live and now I've come to expect it.

I think I'll come up with some dirty limerick about UPS drivers who are late. Let's see, what rhymes with "package"...

Well now if the UPS driver was a plumber I suppose "crackage" would fit in. (ARGH! Just say no to crack
