Torsion bar assisted opening

Perhaps that has been covered previously (I am a recent arrival), but I would like details about how the torsion bar assisted opening of the Kershaw whirlwind works. I use quite a few knives having fun in Alaska and this is one of the neatest ones I have ever encountered. I would like to find out how it works without taking it apart.

I'd like to know that as well or appropiately how mine doesn't work. For some reason the one in my Blackout stopped working about two months back. I'm going to send it back to Kershaw tomorrow because it's obviously under warranty (I didn't do it earlier bcs I just couldn't part with my favorite knife as I don't have a quality replacement for it). These knives have a rather large following here in the forums and in general are outstanding tools I still carry mine everywhere eventhough the torsion bar doesn't work.
