What do you think the toughest knife manufacturer is?I've heard a lot about Strider and plan on picking one up at blade show.

If you want a tough knife, I would say:

Strider(also the Buck/Strider)
Becker
Busse

Basicly something with a full tang, and good steel.

For fixed blades it can only be Busse, I would bet my life on these blades.

Darkjedi - May the force be with you.

No slam on the Busse blades at all. fine pieces of steel...You could likely drive it into the side of a mountain and winch your 4X4 up on it....Just my personal preference...the Randall #14....For everday cutting, its edge geometry seems a little friendlier to me and, I doubt you will break it in normal use...

Believe it or not, I've never seen the Busse test performance videos that everyone mentions all the time. Gonna have to find a copy somewhere, lol :)

However I do recommend Busse knives due to my experience. I am a light to moderate hiker with the occasional long trips. My BM-E and sometimes Basic 9 go with me, and both have impressed me to no end. Great knives plain and simple.

For another choice maybe Independence Custom Cutlery? Have never used their blades, but when I asked for opinions a few weeks ago several people emailed me with five star reviews....

Depends on what you mean by manufacturer...

IMHO, any Khukuri made by Himalayan Imports has to be the absolute toughest piece of steel you could imagine. With nearly 1/2" thick spines, you'll never break one, guaranteed.
