I have always been a fan of the Browning Auto-5 shotgun. Though they are heavy and not as sleek as the current offerings, they are very reliable and built like a Mack truck, as the saying goes. When Browning discontinued the A5 they came out with a "Tribute Commemorative Edition" and like a fool I did not buy one.

Now with talk of the Combat Series/E line going the way of the Auto-5 I wonder if anyone would join me in my thinking that a "Tribute Commemorative Edition" Steel Heart/E would be appropriate. If it were made, I would not repeat the mistake I made with the last edition Auto 5.

Are the E handled knives being discontinued? I'm not in this forum too often but I thought I was subscribed to the mailing list, maybe I missed it either way.

Would that mean the everything is going back to straight handles, or that some models (SH, NO, etc) are being discontinued completely?

If so, when?

I ask because I had planned to take a closer look at a couple of those E handled knives at the March Indy show, but if they won't be around then I'd better not wait.

i understand that when the current e-handle blanks are used up they will not be made again. jerry has hinted that the new line will have a completely different configuration.

i'm sure it will look pretty cool what ever he comes up with.

i here there have been six proto types (all marked "proto") sent out to a few lucky individuals for testing. reports are that they chop and cut like never before.

two of the six were lost in a rafting accident and are gone forever (unless they mysteriously resurface later:rolleyes:

bring them out, i can't wait:cool: :D

well nimmy yes, i would love to join you in a beautiful satin or double cut SH-E with a smooth tan micarta handle. maybe with a nice farewell laser engraving on the blade.

make that two jerry, one for me and one for my fruit eating friend nimrod the first:cool:

Great idea! The flagship deserves a glorious send-off :D

BTW, this will be one retiree that will shun a nice peaceful retirement ;)

ok! that makes seven of us! whoops i counted my self 4 times? oh well i'll just have to order four of these!

cool deal jerry, thanks for having us first on the list:p

I have an idea. Let's make this the 9-11 commemorative edition. This will serve two purposes. First, several years down the road it will identify the line that was in effect at the time. And two, it will help us to remember this infamous day. NEVER FORGET.

Speaking of Jerry, feel free to chime in here any time with you support for this grand idea of mine. ;)
