trying to complete my EDC... need help!

have been trying to assemble the perfect EDC... am very close to perfection.

-Benchmade 710 (main)
-Boker Subcom (backup/serrations)
-Leatherman Kick (Tools)
-Phone
-Keys
-Wallet w/flash drive
-Bandana
-iPod

Whats missing? Ah yes, the pen and the flashlight! I am a person new to the worlds of fine illumination and writing, so i come to you, the experts :)

I need a strong, durable pen that will las me a long while. Have been carying a POS bic pen, hoping to change that. Looking for something sub 50, sub 30 if i can.

I would like a small, reliable flashlight with a nice white light. Have ignored this portion of my EDC entirely (awaiting torches and pitchforks) and am looking for a good all around edc light. As before, sub $50 is necessary, sub 30 will keep myself fed :)

I really dig the Fenix AA cell flashlights. They are plenty bright although not as bright as the "tactical" lights.
 
For $50 you can pick up a pretty nice combo, but I would spend most of that budget on a good light. For a light I suggest a Lumapower ConnecXion X2 or Fenix LD01 both cost around $45. For a pen I carry a Zebra f-701, f-301 is good too both can be found between $5-7.
 
I would say a Fisher Bullet Space Pen and one of the AAA CREE lights. Of course, I am going to recommend the Fenix LD01, but there are a few good options out there. The LD01 is by far the most popular choice for a premium AAA light though.
 
As mentioned before Fenix LD01 is a great light, 80 lumens on a single AAA for about $45, I EDC it on my keychain. The next step up would be the Nitecore EX10/D10 in the $60 range. They are also single cell lights with outputs around 130 lumens. There's a site where you can compare their outputs, try googling 'pinnacle light tunnel'. Good luck, you have lots of options!

That's exactly what I would recommend.

I carry the LD01 in my pocket, along with a Leatherman Micra, and often also the tiny Benchmade Aphid.

I also carry the formidable Vic Fireman, and the EX10 in my bag.

Pen? No contest, its the Fisher "bullet" Space Pen. Great writing insturment that is perfect for pants pocket carry. Should cost around $20 on-line, a bit more in a B&M office supply store

For a flash, I think a lot of people are going with the CR123 LED lights these days. I like the Fenix P1, although it may be pushing your budget at $35-45.
