Woo Hoo!

After-Christmas knives are better than No-Christmas knives!

First up is a Bulldog Brand Barlow with Sunset Marble Composite that I grabbed for my son. I wish I could have gotten 2 as I really dig the strange color-combo of the handles.

And #2, my Christmas Knife (:)), a Queen Dan Burke Barlow. I'll have more pics up of this one as soon as I get a chance but my light was fading and I'm about to run out to drop my son's knife off to him.

(This picture really does a great disservice to the beautiful rough cut bone on this knife.)

Big thanks to Mike Latham for his as-always great service!:D

A couple of winners.

Very pretty.

Both nice but the Queen shows her royalty in this pairing imho.

Thanks to all for the compliments.

Oh yes, they are worlds apart.

While the F&F was excellent on the Bulldog (although slightly gritty) we shall see how the steel holds up. But my son really seemed to like the colors also and that's what's important (he's not a steel-snob like his old man).

But now back to the Queen Dan Burke Barlow...

I tried hard to capture the translucence of the bone, but alas, I fear I failed.

I might add that the F&F on the Queen Dan Burke is impeccable and that any blemishes are the results of me being too spastic to remember to wipe the knife down properly after taking it out of my pocket to photograph it...

That's the best rough cut bone I have seen. We need more pics and a review. That's a five star knife.

God Bless

Hi,

The simple elegance of the Queen is astounding. I have to agree with Blues, a truly regal effort from Queen.

God save the Queen!!
That's a Brilliant Barlow old Boy!! I say, where'd they ever get the idea to plunk a Wharncliffe (Rest His Soul) in there?? Simply Smashing, what??

that Queen has been in my pocket every day for the last couple of weeks since I got it. Man, I love that knife! The blade combo is great, the handles a beautiful, the f&f is superb, and surprisingly a queen knife in D2 arrived sharp, which I am delighted with. I highly recommend snagging one of these barlows up while they are available.

I've been holding off on purchasing one...not much longer though after seeing these pictures..thank you....I'm also really liking the satin finish on the blades.

I couldn't write a review to save my life, I am a man of few words and others have said plenty already. Suffice to say the knife is pretty dang close to perfect.

However I CAN post some more pics... :)

I like it. :D

Mark, thanks for the gracious photos. I like the knife too. Queen definitely really did this one right.

It's my pleasure. I enjoy taking pictures of my "toys". It gives me the chance to better see what my failing eyesight misses.

And thanks again to everyone for the kind words.

Like many of us a Barlow was my first pocket knife and to this day it remains my favorite pattern. I have long since gifted that first barlow to a nephew but I have others...no worries. My favorite barlow in my collection (as I wait for the 2009 Forum Knife) is this Fight'n Rooster. With it's unusual bolster and One Hand Man main blade it is just a marvel. The color of the bone scales is hard to pick up in a photo but they are just splendid.

Well, the knife had it's first test last night. It quite successfully was used to cut some kielbasa, a piece of cheese, and some celery... :)
