Two things that should not be in the same sentence

Gut hooks and buffing wheels! Leather apron, leather gloves, eye protection= 10 stitches. I will not make another knife with one of these (for at least 6 weeks). Just thought it was time for someone to mention safety again. Seems lately I could be the posterboy for how not to do this. Right index finger, right through the middle knuckle. Nothing like a little quality time in the ER as a safety reminder.

On the plus side, the 440c edge did go through two layers of dense leather, me and still shaves nicely! Be safe. Terry

AAAAAIIIIIEEEEEEE!!

I cringed, just reading that! OW! Stop it!!

Glad you're reasonably okay, though...the few incidents I've had with my buffer have generally been enough to make me stop grinding for the day, go inside, kiss the wife and kid, and call it a day.

Anyway, good luck to you in the future, man!

So what happened? Did the buffer wheel get caught on the gut hook and fling it at you?

I always get nervous around grinders, guess I've had too many things ripped from my grip as a boy.

Best wishes for a fast and complete recovery,
Sid

J.H.C. Terry!

I had heard from Dave. Good lord, like things weren't going well enough already.

Well, I can sure relate to how much something like that initially scares the s**t out of us and then pisses us off! I'm just glad (even as bad as it is) that you didn't get hurt worse.

Hope you're doing allright
