I have done a search on this tool but do any of you have some first hand use with one. I looked at it at the NRA convention and I was realy impressed. Plus Mr Turner was really helpful. Any comments would be helpfull.

I bought one on Cliff's advice and like it a lot. However, it is primarily a hunter's tool rather than a substitute for a first-rate hatchet or hawk.

The Uluchet splits small kindling for a campfire pretty well, owing to the edge geometry and thick D2. However, if you want to chop through a branch, it's just adequate. For that application, it does not compare favorably with a GB mini belt hatchet or a Two Hawks hawk.

Although I haven't dropped an animal since I got it, the Uluchet is excellent for general food preparation. I've used it in the kitchen and in camp for a variety of chores. It busts through bone as well as a larger cleaver, while retaining a great edge.

I like the kydex sheath a lot. Very well designed and secure. Also very reasonably priced.

As soon as I get a hog on the ground the Uluchet will get a workout and I believe I'll have more good things to say about its performance.

The Uluchet is a very tough, small folding hatchet. The edge grind is more robust than the GB products so it will not cut as well, but it is far more durable and built intentionally so to provide the ability to chop bones and such. P.J. is top of the line in customer services as well, all facts and no hype.
