I bought one on Cliff's advice and like it a lot. However, it is primarily a hunter's tool rather than a substitute for a first-rate hatchet or hawk.
The Uluchet splits small kindling for a campfire pretty well, owing to the edge geometry and thick D2. However, if you want to chop through a branch, it's just adequate. For that application, it does not compare favorably with a GB mini belt hatchet or a Two Hawks hawk.
Although I haven't dropped an animal since I got it, the Uluchet is excellent for general food preparation. I've used it in the kitchen and in camp for a variety of chores. It busts through bone as well as a larger cleaver, while retaining a great edge.
I like the kydex sheath a lot. Very well designed and secure. Also very reasonably priced.
As soon as I get a hog on the ground the Uluchet will get a workout and I believe I'll have more good things to say about its performance.
