The May 2002 issue of Blade magazine has an article on various "blades of the world," and who else did they choose to discuss khukuris with than our own Uncle Bill!

It even has pix of what looks to be a pretty recent 15" Ang Khola and a father/son kami duo.

Are those HI kamis Uncle Bill, or are they just random village guys?

That will be the 1st thing I look for in it.
 
H.I. and Uncle Bill were in Blade big time several years back! It had a full storie on them. I still have that issue...very cool.
 
I went out for a cup of Jo, and drove by the late night bookstore (a college town norm). I read the artical and portion about kuks was a little blurb that sounded like it came directly from the forum. Well, without Tsimi's BS and the Cantina atmosphere.

Other than that it was pretty cool, and a good pic of a horn handle 15"AK in the new leather scabbard.:)

Did you know that there is over 200,000 magazines circulated in the US? (IIRC) I think we need a Khukrui Monthly...nevermind we have the forum.:rolleyes:

Steve Shackleford called me for info to put in the article and I just directed him to net info and told him to take what he could use -- lot easier that way. So, if what he printed sounds familiar that's why. I did send them a knife they photographed and then returned -- somebody out there has the famous Blade blade that appears in the current issue. I didn't bother to tag it so I don't know who has it.
 
Yeah, those thieving gits got my Jan & Feb 2002 issues of Blade. Not to mention the 3 knife orders that also went MIA in the last 2 years. :mad:

BTW was the older article the series of pictures showing Kami Nara forging a khukuri? I have that issue somewhere.

Are sample HI products sent to knife magazines for testing?

If not it might be a good idea for publicity.
 
Since we got on the net I don't send knives to mags for testing or much of anything else. I sent the AK to Blade because they are good about returning knives after pix are done.
