Hello there,

I'm looking at Uncle Mike's Police Patrol Seat Organizer to keep/organize my various files, note pads, calculators & books at my front seat. Currently, I'm picking them off the floor board every time I brake hard.... Very irritating

Has anybody used it? Find it useful and tough... it's 1200 Denier, so material should be ok but what about the sewing/stitchings?

Should I be looking at any other brands?

Thanks for any info. :D

You know what's even more irritating? Try being hit on the head with a book or a calculator.

Gollnick's rule: If you wouldn't want to be hit on the head with it, put it in the trunk.

I found out when I had a multi-revolution roll-over that, in an accident, everything inside your car which is not bolted down will become an airborne projectile. The glove box, the center console, the door pockets, ashtrays, all those cubbies and compartments will open in a violent accident and spill their contents into the air as well.

You do not need a book or a calculator while you are driving. It would not be good to be hit in the head with a book or a calculator traveling 30 or more MPH. So put all that stuff in the trunk. That's what it's for.

Pickup truck? Get one of those lockable toolbox things that goes in the bed behind the cab and use that as your trunk.

Is the Uncle Mike's organizer made of cloth or is it the plastic type? If its the cloth type, forget it. I used one for a week or two until I figured out that it was just too tough putting things in and getting them out.
I now use a plastic type. I think I got it from GT distributors or somewhere like that.
Whatever you use, make sure you seatbelt it in. And try to keep your up front supplies to a minimum. Like Gollnick said, whatever is loose gets to flyin' during a crash.

Did y'all see the Mythbusters where the guys tested whether a flying tissue box could crack your skull during a collision? It didn't quite, but be sure you don't leave your bowling ball on the back deck when you're drivin'. :)

Problem is with any patrol bag is that it is hung over the seat and hard to get to. Try putting a plastic milk crate up side down on the floor board adn putting the seat forward. Now just set your bag in the seat and hit the brakes as hard as you want.

I'm not familiar with Uncle Mike's. But you should check out the Cab Commander by Duluth Trading. Very durable, inexpensive, seems to be well organized. Bought my mom one for her truck and checked it out a bit before mailing it. I have several of the Duluth Trading notebooks and breifcases and they are darned tough, made from the same material as the Cab Commander.

Best Wishes,
Bob

I had one, and while very well made, it was a little small for my needs. Plus the vertical set up makes it a pain to extract anything unless you're at a stop. I went with their Mobile Desk unit. Just as well made, much easier to use, and has a writing surface.

Spend ten bucks at Walmart and get one of their car organizers. They're designed for behind the front seat, but you can easily use them either way.

Are you using this in a squad car or your own personal car?
