Effective starting with March orders, I will be taking deposits. What this means is that before I start any March orders, I will contact the customer to see if he, or she, still wants their order. If so, I will take a $50, non refundable, deposit to cover the materials needed for the order. What is causing this change in policy is that even though I contact the customer and they say they want their knife, when I notify them it`s ready to ship I am not getting a reply back from them, or payment.
Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Fair, but unfortunate. This should not be a problem for your loyal customers

Ugh. I'm sorry to hear this John. As a maker who obviously pours a lot of himself in each piece, I can only imagine how deflating that must be. The silver lining is that there's no shortage of people lining up to buy your pieces once they're made. I completely agree with your policy and hope it weeds out the types you referred to in your post. All the best-

since policy has to change due to recent happenings, which i DO understand why and how this has come about, maybe a 5 to 7 day waiting period after you have contacted the buyer and if no response, put the item(s) up for sale in order for "ready-to-buy" customers who may have been waiting on a chance at snagging one of these fine knives?? just my thoughts ....

That sounds like a pretty good idea. Maybe only take deposits on custom designs.

I'm sorry to hear it of course but that's just unacceptable behavior. I think it's very fair of you start taking deposited.

Deposits suck!Damn those no repliers.:grumpy: :thumbdn:
Totally fair though & not a problem, yer tools are worth it John.:)

No problem with that, Mr. K.

You gotta do what you gotta do, and I want your knives!

best

Like I've said before, you shouldn't be outta pocket for dropped orders.

Take it easy sir.

Sounds more than fair. Sorry it came to this but I understand it and support it completely. Good for you John!

a deposit is more than fair. knife making materials are not cheap and neither is professional labor.

just let me know when I'm due.

Buddy, you knew it was bound to happen sooner or later, after all that you have seen in the last few years! The economy just makes it that much worse, not that I am defending these XXXXXX! You know how I feel about it! Everyone of us, every day, has to give up some type of right that we used to have, or be grouped in with the losers of the world, and punished in some way or fashion, because these people can't follow the rules or get with the program! I can't tell you how tired I get of that! Used to be in this country, only the guilty were punished! These are the people that have screwed up our society, and if it weren't for the do-gooders, especially in this country, these people would be weeded out as criminals of our society! But, that is exactly why prisons are like country clubs now days, and seems like every prisoner is getting some kind of degree on our dime to become a lawyer, either while they spend out their life in prison, or for when they get out! I guess it is a really good think that I'm not in charge of things! Ha! Ha!

Sorry it has been awhile since I have been able to get on here! I've been having major computer problems, and it has taken me this long to fix and work them out! I have everything back up and running, and it seems like everything is working properly for the time being! I love computers, until they start having problems that most people don't have a clue of how to solve or work on! That is me! I know just about enough to get me into lots and lots of trouble! I guess I just get lucky at the right times! Over the last three or four weeks, I can not tell you how the anxiety and stress have taken their toll on me! That stuff will kill you!

Anyway, John I know you didn't really want to have to do this but, I just wanted to let you know you are doing the right thing! Your loyal customers will always be there for you, and most of them know a quality product when they see it! The rest of them can go fly a kite, and I'm being nice about the matter!

Just wanted to pop in and say hi to everyone too! You guys take care and stay safe!

ft
