Unsatisfied With 1660VIB

I recieved my New in Box Rainbow Leek in the Mail and I'm pretty shocked its not a Blem XXXX... The Finish has long scratches all down the blade and by one of the Torx screws theres a section of the finish missing.. What should I Do? pics coming soon

If the blade of your Kershaw knife has etched “Xs” on it, the knife was originally purchased at our annual Warehouse Sale as a factory “second.” In other words, the knife is not “first” or top quality. These knives usually look and work just fine; they are simply not up to Kershaw’s demanding standards. As a result, these factory seconds do not carry the Kershaw Lifetime Warranty."

And XXXX isn't Bad at all. Blems are a great knife for a great price..but I didn't pay for this blem condition

I'm aware of what the XXXX signifies. However, the price reflects the lack of warranty. Aside from that, you can get clips, torsion bars, and hardware for free. Doesn't seem bad.

For the price that most pay for the Blems, there is no arguing that they are one of the best knife deals going anywhere. So there's no warranty service, big deal. Most knife nuts with a reasonable amount of intelligence can take apart and put back together a folding Kershaw. I could be mistaken, but even if you own a blem, and say the torsion bar snaps, I believe Kershaw will gladly send you a replacement that you can install yourself. The blems are great knives at a great price. Nothing to fear here. Spend a little more time here on the forums and you'll be convinced.

There's absolutely nothing *bad* about a Kershaw blem. I have a couple of them, and have yet to figure out what the blem is supposed to be. :D

And as was previously stated, for the price, who cares so much about warranty?

I agree that you should send it back to the seller. I don't agree that blems are bad, however. I got my CB Leek blem today from kershawguy and I can't tell what the blem is supposed to be.

If you ever chip the blade on it, you might. They won't replace the blade, and if the chip is any decent size, sharpening it will make it too short for the safety lock. If it is for a different model, like the blur, the inserts cannot be sent out through the mail, and so if anything happens to those, you're out of luck.

Unless the knife is for display purposes only, I wouldn't get any knife without a warranty. It's like having insurance that is covered by the purchase price.
 
If you chip the blade, sharpen it out. Ripping an insert out would take a lot of effort. Different strokes for different folks I guess. I know that there are some people that will panic about using a $40 knife, other won't really care.
 
My 2¢:
If the knife is different than how the seller represented it: Return It, blem or not.
Blems are simply a knife that didn't pass quality tolerances. A blem is still a very
good knife at a price that helps one to overlook the XXXs on the blade.
Some blems don't even have the XXX and would probably be still covered under a
warranty since there would be no way to distinguish them from a Non-Blem.

I think you are misunderstanding or I'm misunderstanding your comment [I'm reading it as sarcasm]. He didn't mean you can "part out" the blem, but that Kershaw's customer service will
send clips, torsion bars, screws out at no cost and don't verify whether your knife is a blem or not. They will not however cover it if you send it in for sharpening
or having other service done that would be done at no cost for a non blem knife that is covered by their warranty.
 
The Seller is gonna swap me this for a 1660CB even. Sweeet! can't wait to get my composite
