Does anybody know what jailbreaking your ipod touch is? Do you know what can come of it? I do, but i was just hoping to spread the word here in case some of you knew, or didn't know and wanted to. I'm a techy/geeky person when it comes to my gadgets so yes, last night i jailbroke my ipod touch lol. Ask questions here, maybe i can get you all to convert!

Oh, okay, I'll bite.

I don't own an iPod Touch, but I've thought about getting one from time to time.

What does it mean to "jailbreak" an iPod touch? I've only heard of "jailbreaking" in the sense of making it so you can use iPhones on networks other than AT&T.

Well, it's similar to the soft unlock of the iphone for use on T-Mobile and such. You get a program called cydia & if you wish installer also which you can download open source 3rd party applications to customize the look of your touch. You can change the battery bar, where it shows the iPod logo in the top left you can change it to your name or whatever :-) you can have themes just like on an OS. Theres an infinate amount of possibilities. You aren't restricted by apples software. I love it. I would recommend getting one, even if you don't want to jailbreak. The internet is amazing, its pretty darn fast for a little device. No flash support on it yet though. The applications are fun, there are a lot of good free ones from iTunes. Pics, Vids, Games, Music. You can have emulators on jailbroken ipods also such as Nintendo and gameboy and whatever. Fun fun fun.

I just jailbroke my 2g last night as well. I had previously done the tethered jailbreak but did not like having to have a comp to reboot. I was completely happy with my touch in it's unjailbroken state anyways but now that the untethered is released there is no downside to jailbreaking for me so why not. I do like the custom themes and such especially the five icon columns and docks.
