After a little searching I found that GE Polymers has a distribution center local to me. I just got back from paying them a visit.

A small snag raised its head. The one sheet minimum is based on items in stock. The only items that they regularly have it stock is

Black Kydex 100 in .093
A super light tan in .063
A pale powder blue with a touch of lavander in .063

The good news is; the General Manager thought it was pretty darn cool that the stuff was for knifemaking. He is going to check with the main center to see what he can get in.

I asked for a price quote for the following colors in .060

Blk
Fire Red
Royal Blue
Blaze orange
Forest green

I would have to purchase all five sheets at once. He is going to get back to me Tuesday afternoon after he finds out how this would work. As soon as he gets back to me I will let you guys know.

Each sheet is 4x8 for a total of 32'sq. I plan on asking him to cut it up into 1'x4' sheets. Its just easier to deal with that way. If anyone needs bigger be sure and let me know.

I am calling the following,

Blk 16'sq
red 8'sq
blue 8'sq
orange 8'sq
green 8'sq

The rest will be up for grabs.

please put me in for 1x4 in blaze qrange. i have some three finger design's coming up and have to learn how to work kydex sooner tan later. depending on price i my go for some of the tan or green also. thanks for the up date.

OK, so here's what we still have up for grabs.

Blk -4sq'
red 0sq'
blue 12sq'
orange 0sq'
green 0sq'

If we reach a -32sq', that just means that I will order 2 sheets of that color.

Price's that have been discussed have been between $66.50 and $78 per sheet. So I am thinking that it will not be any higher than $2.50 per foot. Now its just a matter of getting final authorization from GE.

I thought I was the only one psyco enough to want blaze orange

well r.w. insanitie runs in knife making. well dressed rhino's always wear hunter orange. so at 2.50 a sp plus shipping of course, make it 8x1ft of orange and 1x4 of green please.plan on making blade saver gaurds for my 11 1/2"blade rhino chef knives.

I'm changing my order from 1x4 of the orange to 1x4 of the green. Hope that helps out someone, since everyone seems to have wanted the orange. I just can't seem to figure out what i would do with it.

I would take a 1x4 of blue and a 1x4 of green if its still unaccounted for.

On a slightly related note, have you made any headway producing a catalouge of your unfinished blade designs?

No, progress as of yet. Just need to sit my butt down and get the thing done.

As to the progress with the Kydex. I called GE on Monday and was told that they did not have an answer yet. I did get in the samples (minus the neons) and the Kydex Data Sheets.

I am going to call again this afternoon. Hopefully they will have some answers.

Going to give the local contact one more chance to get me some answers. Every time I call, I get the "waiting for a response" line. If I don't have the answers Wednesday, I'll just drop a line to a salesman at the central hub.
