Fellow Emerson Suspects:
Here's an update on the Usual Suspect Logo project. Frist, I have to say that this project is for fun and group support, not for personal profit. Because of this reason, I've choosen a simpler project than the dicussed polo shirt. My concerns were with sizing issues and realitive quality of the shirts. In talking with experienced corporate identity buyers, I found out that polo shirts can vary in cut and sizing regardless of the size tag. The Asian made shirts are notorious for being undersized. My advisors said it's always best to try the shirt for each person. I did not want get into a customer service situation that would disappoint myself and you good people.
The alternative that I've come up with is a embroided patch. Much like service patchs used by agencies. If fact, the the company I've choosen does the patches for many SF Bay Area depts, As well as many motorcycle clubs.
Here's a pic of the patch design.
The patch will be 4" X 2" embroided, with heat seal backing. and red trim border. The good news is the cost will be very low, perhaps around $2.00 per patch. However, the production run will be limited to 200 or perhaps 300, so I may impose a limit of patches per suspect, just so everyone gets a shot at a few. Once again, this is for Group support, not profit.
The patches should be more versatile than the shirts, so I hope some of you won't be too disappointed.
Also, I'm looking into have the logo converted to a Tajima format. The Tajima is a computerized embriodery machine. Many logo outlets can do "one-offs" shirts and other items using a Tajima.
If I can pull this off, you can take the computer file to a Tajima shop and make yourself a shirt.
The prouduction timeline is looking like late August before the patches will be ready. Once I have them in hand, I'll post the purchase information. So hang until then.
