So I have recently become interested in the USA Craftsman knives. The stockman pattern. But I am having trouble figuring out if they have carbon steel blade or stainless steel blades. Was wondering if you could help. The pattern that I am looking at is the 85045 pattern, the 95044 pattern, and the 9470 pattern.

It's hard to say; it looks like the ones you are referring too are the standard 4" Stockman pattern (like the old U.S. Schrade 8OT), and I think Schrade or Imperial may have made them for Craftsman at one point. They look like the old Frontier brand Stockman patterns I have: a white one (#4432) and a black one (#4434). They are very similar to the Schrade 8OT in size, handle shape, and blade profiles.

I thought the blades on my Frontiers were stainless, until they patina'd to a dark color; I later polished them back to shiny, since they were users anyway. I have a small Craftsman Stockman that U.S. Schrade made for Sears, I think, and it has "Razorblade Stainless" on the blade, like some of my other U.S. Schrades.

thx - cpr

Craftsman 9470. Carbon steel made by Ulster. From the 1960's.

Not sure on others but my 95021 has carbon steel blades I am sure, it is the only knife I have that has patina on the blades...I got it used in a trade and never flitzed it. I am however dropping it into my pocket for edc today... :)

They will often be a mix, depending on who had the contract to make them for Craftsman at the time, sometimes stainless, sometimes carbon.
