I know a lot of folks here have some spectacular collections. I am curious to know though...

Of the knives you have or have had, which makers' knives have you actually used to cut something.

Which makers do you know you will never use to cut something?

For me, I have used the following makers' knives:

Matt Lamey
Phillip Patton
John W. Smith
Lloyd "Butch" Harner

My users:
My edc is a Don Fogg Gents Utility
Fikes camp knife, Cabin Boy, and a Jungle Honey on special occasions;)
Robb Hudson camp knife
A couple of Hartsfields
An Ivan Campos Machidano, and another neck knife from him
Takeda kitchen knife
Bradburn Guardian Elite
Mardi Meshejian cleaver
Wally Hayes machete
There's several others that gets used through rotation...I just haven't rotated much lately...Dawson, Piorek, Perrin, Jason Taylor, Mike Lambiase gents integral.

Not used:
Wayne Goddard bolo
Al Pendray wootz desk knife
Several Hartsfields
A couple more Fikes
A couple more of Don Fogg's knives (can't bring myself to wreck the finish)
A Gay Rocha integral
Dan Maragni utility
RJ Martin 3V Wasabi
Lots more sitting on the shelf...JD Smith damascus utility, some antique ethnic pieces, and a couple that have fond memories that have been "retired".

That may seem like alot of users, but where's the fun if you don't use them?:) And after collecting for enough years, you finally settle on those that you realize you'll never part with, so you may as well put them to work and allow them to collect some memories.

I have cut alot with Bagwell and Hartsfield stuff and come to think of it there are only a few that I have not cut with usually when I get a knife I cut some hanging rope or at least some cardboard tubes to see how they cut. Only 2 come to mind that I have not cut with and that is a Bagwell Damascus Hells Belle and a damascus Fisk bowie. I have carried both though

I don't own any custom knives with cutting restrictions.

A lot of your tastes in fixed blades mirror mine....no folders?

damascus tai goo

ray smith folder

the only knife i have never used is a nice nick wheeler bowie i have.....other than that i use em if i got em!.....

I just bought a Darrel Ralph Madd Maxx that I'm contemplating not using because it's a double edge knife. I might try and trade it with a single edge Madd Maxx.

Aside from that I buy for use. I don't have extra dough for safe queens. That might change in the future.

My 2 users are:
Hinder XM-18
Yuna Hard 1

Since I'm new to this game and have only accumulated a few knives the names on both sides of my list are very similar.

Users:
Burt Foster integral and Tactical Tooth Pick (;))
Jason Knight adventure grade bowie
Kevin Cashen fighter
Hoping to add a couple more to this list

Never Will Use:
A few more from Burt
Anders Hogstrom boot dagger
Another smaller Kevin Cashen fighter
A couple of odd birds from Tai Goo
Hoping to add a lot more to this list :)

I can name a knife that I wouldn't use if I owned one- anything by Bob Lum.

Knives I have used:

Blackwood Henchman ( gets used monthly )
Hossom ( used to be an EDC )
M. Strider ( used to be an EDC )
Ram |Zero Knives| ( my desert romping knife )
Alan Folts ( both a Baby Bear and a small Utility )
Rob Simonich ( Raven & Crowfoot - ground by Rob )

Knives I use daily:
Trace Rinaldi ( Matrix - the most used knife I own )
Ken Erickson ( 3.5 EDC - my office use knife )

My highest dollar custom users are Bradshaw 3V forged bowie (chopped down a 12" tree with it clearing shooting lanes last year), Lamey 12" chopper, RJ Martin Devastator (think that's the model). High dollar production users include a SHBM & Diamondblade folder. Nothing as fancy as some of the users seen here or the slipjoint forum...

Those are some nice users, John Johnson! I'm still taking good care of the Wendell Fox & Sean Perkins I got from you!

Most of the knives in my collection are what I consider using grade hunting knives that I would not really hesitate to use. A few don't fit well in the group but were purchased just because I liked them or liked the maker. None are really high end knives, but most are priceless to me.
Knives I have used:

Randall
Lile
Morseth
Ruana
Hueske
Hewett
Twin Blades

Knives I won't use although a few of them have been used by prior owners:
Randall
Ruana
Lile
Hale
Dowell
Cooper
Valachovic
Tomes
Ankrom
T R Lewis
Gillenwater
Herron
Bone
Segine
Sigman
Ron Best
Corbin

If the name appears in both lists, it's a different knife

I've used knives by Bailey Bradshaw, Tom Mayo, Darrel Ralph, Ed Caffrey, Tom Anderson, Gayle Bradley, Ray Kirk, Frank Centofante, Tom Krein, Warren Thomas, Joe Brum, Fred Perrin, Jerry Hossom, Bill Burke, Jim Burke, JB Moore, AT Barr, John Frapps, Jeff Claiborne, Y. Sakauchi, M. Takeshi, Bob Doggett, RW Clarke, Tim Britton, Jens Anso, and I know I've got to be forgetting someone.

Not used and not likely to be used: Jot Khalsa and only because the blade is Eggerling mosaic damascus.
