I shipped an EDC back to Darrel Ralph (a helluva guy, BTW) for a different version and the post office lost it! Luckily I sent it insured w/ delivery confirmation but it is almost useless comapred to UPS (go figure). They show it being delivered in his city, but that's as far as it goes. Now, I have to wait for an eternity to get this resolved. The sender/sendee each have to fill out a form to get USPS to perform a trace on the package. Then it can take 30 days to complete once they get off their butts to look for it. Man, I'm sticking to Fed-ex/UPS from now on. Any suggestions for a quicker response from USPS?

They do really suck around the Holidays. I sold a couple knives before Christmas and I waited for 10 days to receive payment sent PRIORITY MAIL! I also contacted Darrel about returning my EDC for some work but told him it would be after the Holiday rush. First smart thing I have done in a while I guess.

I recently sent a money order for a knife via 2 day priority mail. It took 8 days to get there. I paid for express 2 day mail, but got 8 day instead. Lucky me huh! The late delivery cost me a heck of a deal on the knife since it took so long to get there, the deal was cancelled.
When I tried to track the MO on the USPS web site, it simply said that it was "enroute". At least with UPS, you can track a package city to city every hour of the day and night. So you know where it is at and an estimated delivery date. USPS can't touch that. No more US Postal Service for me!

I've come to the conclusion that they all suck from time to time - USPS, UPS, FedEx, Airborne, whatever. Do a search in the GB&U and General forums and you'll find horror stories from all of them. There are people here who've had poor service, lost packages, and troubles getting reimbursed from them all.

I sent a Socom Elite to Larry at Bladeart on Dec.11. Still not there and worse, the tracking/confirm # never showed it. It just always says no record of that item. I guess that means the local PO guy never scanned it in.I filled out a form at the PO but I'm not too hopeful. I think this one's gonna cost me.

Lifter, that may be their server going bonkers. I always check a few times to make sure that either it was really gone for good or just glitches on their part. In fact, I had the same experience you just related but at the end the # and info showed up and all went well. Keep checking their site. Good luck.

I sent a knife back to Texas (from NY) on 12/27 via USPS Priority Mail. Here I am 9 days later, and the knife still hasn't been received in Texas. Maybe the Pony Express wasn't such a bad idea.

I too have had problems with UPS and USPS. Hang in there guys, the knives will probably get there sometime. I sent a knife out about a month ago and it took 9 days to get there priority mail.

I also sent UWMitch a knife to Hawaii a few weeks ago and he sent one the same day. The one he sent got here in 3 days and the one I sent took forever to get to him.

Thanks for the responses, I'm unfortunately not alone with these woes. I hope all your packages show up intact.

Just to clarify "Priority" from USPS means that they "expect" they can get it there in 2-3 days. It's not a guarantee.

Nakano, I don't think it's gonna happen. I mailed on 12/11. I've already filled out papers for tracing at the PO a week ago and no word yet. I think this one is gonna cost me.
I gotta say this in high praise of Larry at Bladeart. He has not panicked, gotten angry, demanded immediate payment, or even bothered me about it at all.
Of course I have told him I'll make good for it one way or the other, but he's been great about waiting.
