What do guys suggest in the way of nylon utility belts?

Seems like a pretty straight forward item but it looks like there are quite a few options out there and at varying price points.

Specops seems like a reliable brand to go with but then I also see that Blackhawk makes them for half the price.

I bought a blackhawk BDU belt in 2001. I wear it every day to work and it is still going strong. That said, I bought another as a backup two years ago. The more recent one is a thinner grade of nylon and doesn't hold a candle to the support or durability of the older one. Big thumbs down.

I bought a Spec Ops after that and it gets an A+.

The Batman utility belts are pretty good.:D.:D.

Actually, "Uncle Mikes" Pro Series are good, and don't cost alot of money.

I have a Wilderness belt and a 5.11 belt and I'm happy with both. They're a bit expensive as nylon belts go but you immediately see the difference in build quality from a standard BDU belt.

Thanks guys!

Great input as always from BF.

I put in an order for a 5.11 trainer belt. Reviews have been largely positive and I dont mind paying the extra 10 bucks or for a proven product.

Hopefully I did okay with the sizing though hmmm

Sometimes those sizing charts aren't all that accurate.

I've used an Uncle Mike's Reinforced Instructor's Belt for a couple years and its held up fine. My Brother really likes The Wilderness belts with the extra stiching that stiffens the belt. Awhile back we went to their storefront and they didn't have his size on hand. They simply went in back and had one made up for him on the spot.

You should be OK sizing wise, the 5.11 has a pretty large section of velcro on it. A friend of mine bought one recently and went up one size because he was going to use it with a pistol IWB; he told me after he got it he wished he had stuck with his normal size as he thinks it would have been fine.

Awesome! Makes me even more confident about my purchase now.

i bought my blackhawk belt 8 years ago.. after 4 years of wear the nylon started coming apart
good thing is i bought another one last year and just put back all the pouches on the new belt, and it's good as new
i particularly like the BTS system which fixes the pouches in place and not shift around
pretty easy to customise for different purposes too

Depends on how much you want the belt to do. If you're looking for a simple quality belt I really like BDS: http://www.bdstacticalgear.com/cat-belts.cfm They make good gear. I have some of their stuff and it's well made. They also have a 40mm bandolier that would make a great batman belt here: http://www.bdstacticalgear.com/pd-bds-tactical-40mm-bandolier.cfm

But for a belt that can really pack some gear I highly recomend the Maxpedition Sabercat here: http://www.maxpedition.com/store/pc/viewPrd.asp?idcategory=4&idproduct=562

But it's more of a butt pack than a belt.

Also the Maxpedition OCTA looks really good. http://www.maxpedition.com/store/pc/viewPrd.asp?idcategory=4&idproduct=433

I own a sabercat and love it. But the OCTA looks like it will be pretty handy too. I'm gonna attach it to the front of my Vulture II backpack. But it's small enough to maybe make a great platform for a utility belt... and you can hide a firearm in it.
