Vantage Paperstone vs. Vantage Pro

I got a Vantage Select large papertsone from walmart on a whim about 3-4 months ago, It was instantly my EDC and stayed that way up until 3 weeks ago when I got an opportunity to get a Vantage pro. I have been forcing myself to carry the pro in hopes I will warm up to it but honestly it isn't doing it for me, I like S30V, I like G-10, I like the extra weight but I am having trouble with the smooth scales. As "economy" as the paperstone scales were they did have good grip. I have thought about swapping my beloved paperstone scales onto my Pro, but that would leave me with a Select 420hc knife with the G10 scales that I am not fond of. I saw a post by Sawyer where he did a rocky mountain tread on a diamondwood Vantage, I like that but its a little drastic for such a nice knife, has anyone dimpled these things? Maybe she isnt for me, 420 has always treated me well, maybe my pro will find a home with someone else here...

I got dymonwood handles and a Vantage select.
Tell you what, lets rent a garage and open up a "Buck Vantage slippery spare parts shop" (In short: BVsspS) together and make big money. :D :D
It's definitely a niche since Buckknives don't sell handles nor knife seperately even though the Vantage is highly modular in build.
We will be the next generation of Bill Gates and Steven Jobs.

Im gonna give it a few more weeks at least to see if I will adapt to it, but im dieing to go back to my paperstone.

If you end up deciding that the knife's not for you, I'll gladly take your Vantage Pro off your hands :D

I was just talking about this with a friend of mine. In the begining the Vantage select came with diamondwood scales. It was a limited run and I missed it but my friend bought several and gave them away for presents. I personally dont like the G10. Its too heavy for me. I carry the avid because its the only one that I could get with charcoal diamondwood. I love it and have several, just in case. I say, switch the scales.

I decided I only really use it for food prep, 420hc has treated me just fine. I threw the Pro up in the trade section, it can go to a good home and I get something else to play with.
