brother dave canterbury of http://www.wildernessoutfittersarchery.com is one tough dude without a doubt, and i am sure you'd agree with me, if you have ever met him or his son, brother lance.

both are good men too IMHO.

he just tried to destroy a couple Vec Hawks, and put it on video on YouTube, and I thought you might want to see his thoughts.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZRKCl_qsT7k

the action starts about the third minute of the video, but i love the whole thing.

brother lance got hisself a good squirrel for dinner.

anyways, this test is especially exciting to us since the hawks are in a period of massive development, and are only getting better.

......

stand by for a bunch more news about the humble Hawk Project, brethren, if you are interested.

i am about to put some IGHs up in the For Sale section, including two beautiful Multicam hawks (one of my personal weaknesses! har!).

i am roped from all the work we have, but i will get back ASAP.

any questions ahead of time, please just contact my Erica at:

ericag@equinoxcoronado.com

thanks for your interest.

Great review and video....Your hawks look and hold up great.......

I'll vouch for brother Canterbury's strength, having met both he and his son, they are big dudes. And seeing as how I own at least a few of Vectors hawks, I knew what the outcome of the tree whacking would be. Heh, I said tree whacking.

Good stuff Vec! I was thinking he was going to fell that oak the way he was swinging. Do you get the comment a lot that people would prefer a different head on your hawks?

yep.

less and less though, as foilks compare them on a Gen 1 Mk 4 composite handle to their super-hawks.

i tell them to go try their hawks in - 20 Farenheit, when the hawk has been outside for two days. - that's talkin' my world.

most hawk heads are too hard IME, and i expect they will fail in arctic conditions. they are also time-consuming to field-repair.

it's a classic example of the divorce between Expectations and Outcome IMHO.

one of my greatest character flaws is that i don't feel compelled to set such folks straight.

we put all sorts of heads on our handles anyways.

i like Cold Steel Trail Hawks for a reason;

i like the Steel.

i like their Mass Distribution.

they aren't for everyone.

I like the PSI on the bit. they are efficient heads, especially with a handle that keeps them on target more easily than one with another cross-section.

but i make hawks that i like, for the way i use them - if someone else likes them, great. i have learned that the subtleties of what make a good hawk are lost on most folks who would benefit from them, until they use both their choices and mine - that's why we have the Happiness Guarantee - we are a risk free venture.

one of the posters under the video (linked) said they'd stick with their Estwing. - that guy is the type of person i am talking about - let's see him carry that Estwing as long and as fast as a lightweight Gen 1 Mk 4 hawk, that can generate more power anyways.

did you see that look on brother dave's face in the video? that was pleasure.

he didn't expect that hawk to keep up with him. i don't blame him, he is ripped, and so is his son.

a tree is a lot tougher than a mob of zombies anyways.:thumbup:

i make my hawks to run with, not to survive with. survival is a given.

anyways,

if someone wants to do what i would call abuse with the hawks, such as Brother Canterbury does in the video, and the hawks survive, that's just a benefit of the design of the Gen 1 Mk 4 - its always good to have built-in protection against unforseen uses. shit happens.

i want to be able to back my Investors.

i reckon with those big ol' boys working on that hawk until it breaks, it'll break sooner or later, and only after a concerted effort to kill it. - but they will give me accurate feedback like the professionals that they are, i reckon - plus they will be able to recommend the hawks to their people with a light heart hopefully.

it's a win-win, as far as i am concerned.

we can make these handles twenty times stronger than they are, we'll just crank them up a notch at a time until the Investor in question hits his satisfaction point.

that's how ya make a friend for life.

that's what i want in each Investor, because they allow me to chase my dreams.

maybe you hip cats can diggit.

You're one of the reasons I bought a trail hawk to be honest. I wanted to see what all the hub bub was about and although I haven't used it much, I like it. Hopefully it'll get some action this weekend at the beach.;)

Edit: I should clarify that the beach I'm going to has lots of timber and not lots of people. Didn't want people thinking I was going off the deep end.

I'll step up and admit I was one of the ones that thought the Trail Hawk head was way too small. And to be honest, if I had just bought a CS Trail Hawk with their short handle, i probably would still feel that way. But after going for it and buying a Vec, I admit that although I'd like a longer cutting edge, I wouldn't want it to weigh much more than the trail hawk head.

Awesome work Vec. I am really needing one of your Bugs!
Your hawks have a futuristic look to them. I LIKE!!
Great video also. It gives a future customer a feeling that this hawk will survive all that he throws at it. Keep up the great work!

thank you, brother 'angel.

thanks goes to the Canterbury's too.

the Hawk Project is starting to look like the group effort that i hoped it would be.

it's good to see such brotherhood, especially in these tough times.

Just what I need, more 'hawk lust.

Impressive effort on the part of Dave C. I'm still happy with the Vec 'Hawk I have now. I can't wait to get the next two into my hands. Zombies beware!

My only fripe was he was beating on an ok kinda of tree, pick an on crappy snag to wail on if you/ he/ they are so nature minded, if you need it use it

Brother Vec, i agree Cold Steel hawks are pretty good. Folks sayw use a GB or a some other high $ thing , i would like to see this, sure you would, they probally don't even own a high end factory axe, just been reading and dreaming other folks stuff and must know it all.

the cold steel head can be sharpened wth out a fancy grinder and powerline, a file and a whet rock will make it work, they are tuff enough to hold up but not to hard to flake out a big old chip. i own half a dozen CS hawks and the trail hawk is probably one of my favorite designs, most of you that think the rifleman's is the way to go, they weigh a ton, howq far you gonna carry that thing?

that handle looks mighty sturdy Vec, it is probably going from 50 or 60 mph to 0 in a split second.

flail n wail on Brother Vec
