(very) Dull Serrations

I have just recieved my BM-42AS from New Graham knives (my first BM).
Unfortunately, the serrations are quite dull. More specifically, the points of the serrations are dull, so the sharp part of the serrations (the valley part) doesan't get to have much of an impact on the sharpness. I was a little disapointed, considering lifesharp doesan't cover serrations.
Also, the back of the blade comes into slight contact with the safe handle. This is probably fixable with a torx head screw driver.

Anyway, are BM serrations really supposed to be this dull? Is this coverable because I recieved this knife in this condition?

I'd call BM and bitch. Serration not sharp isn't a biggie, but the blade hitting the handle makes it a defect. That's what the kick designed to prevent. Get a RMA and they should take care of you.

Those BM serrations may not look that sharp, but they are! At least thats the way my two came. I thought that they were dull, rounded, cheap things. Then I used them, and they were sharper than the staight portion of the blade! Try them out, if they are truly dull, call BM.

Also, what part of the blade is touching what part of the handle? If it is the side of the blade touching the side of the grove in the handle, you just need to tighten the torx heads. ;)

Enjoy the knife, it is a fine work of art.

Yeah, i think it just needs a turn on the torx head. As fo the serrations, I tested the serrations on my skin, and it just slides. The knife overall is very well made and locks up good. I'm still getting used to the light weight of titanium. I think I'll probably just sharpen the serrations myself.

Thanks for all the replies.

The safe handle is supposed to touch the spine of the blade, the bite handle contacts the kick, directly on the other side of where the safe handle contacts the spine.

Excuse me, I guess I was a little confused. I was under the impression that the edge was hitting the handle, and that would be a defect in manufacturing. If it is the side of the blade, hold off, as you're not the first to complain of this. I'm now in possession of 15 of the new BM 4x series, and all but 2 of them do not have blades that slap the side of the handle. Past forum members have indicated that even with the torx adjusted to where it's as tight as possible and still allow free handle swing, the blade still hits the side of the handle. Not sure if this is an issue of inadquate spacers, or if the tang fork for that handle is still being stretched as they've always been. Because the only reason that your blade should slap the side of the handle is because there is too much free gap in the tang fork. Given that your knife is new, try the torx adjustment, if it fixes it, then you're fine. If not, I'd still say you call BM and ask them what's going on.
