I have been keeping an eyeball open on a new product line called Vtech. So far, for the price, I am very impressed ... they remind me a lot of CRKT. Anyone else have an opinion on these babies?

Thanks,

Ryan

Yes, it does now that you mention it. Except these MSRP for $44.95, so about $30 or so Online. Not too shabby if you don't have the $100+ for the real deal (BM942). Never seen one in person (just the fixed blades so far), so I don't know if it would be considered a knockoff ... which I would be against.

Yeah it looks awfully familiar to a BM osborne or something like that....

Looks nice enough. However its pretty obvious that they are taking advantage of somebody elses design work.

I agree with Richard. While I'm sure the quality is probably comparable to CRKT, the fact that they ripped off a Benchmade/Osborne design turns me off. Save your money and get the real thing.

Yipppppppppppeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!! ANOTHER tactical folder!!! Just what we've so desperately needed. ;)

Definitely NOT. How can they become the next CRKT when they are knocking folks off left and right? At least CRKT has legit custom collaborations.

Well the ones I have "Recons" didn't look like anyone else's work, but the last two in this catalog snapshot look like something from Sog & Buck.

Hmmmmmmm, I Guess Vtech needs to start coming up with their own work. Still I would have to say Quality wise they are not too bad.

Ryan, while the Benchmade Pinnacle is a framelock like the Sebenza, it is not an outright Sebenza knockoff. If anything the model reminds me of the earlier Benchmade/Brend collaboration. If you consider the Benchmade Pinnacle a Sebenza knockoff just because of the Framelock, then you would have to include every other framelock folder from CRKT, Camillus, Outdoor Edge and Kershaw. The framelock designs made by these companies are legit collaborations with the likes of Darrel Ralph, Ken Onion and Ed Halligan. They are not knockoffs.

This is a knockoff:

Ryan, the Pinnacle looks nothing like a sebenza.
The Vtech TitanX, however, looks a lot like a Chris Reeve classic sebenza.(besides the black blade and handle:barf: )

Hmmm. Speaking as someone who usually doesn't see "ripoffs" and resemblance where others do (for example, I can't see how the Pinnacle looks anything like the Sebenza) ... I do think Vtech is taking considerable license in copying others work.

I think they all borrow from each other. Vtech just needs to be a little more covert about it.
