Here's a copy of a personal email "inquiry" I received a few days ago, with "subject" line "Blade Forum":
===================================================================
"Hi,

I'm a Canadian as well, living in Manitoba. Balisongs are so difficult to come by, being illegal and all, but I am wanting to expand my very amateur collection. Can you help me out at all in this department? Send me some pics and prices of what you might have and let's make a deal.

Thanks,

Matt"

The email address attached is burima@shaw.ca

If you receive a similar "inquiry" (and balisongs are illegal where you are), be careful how you respond or do not respond at all.

This unsolicited "inquiry" made me suspicious because I have absolutely no interest in balisongs!

I think it came from some troll with nothing better to do, or from the sloppiest investigator I have ever seen "fishing" for information.

IMO, trolls get the vote.

Hello Gentlemen,

I understand that my inquiry was intended to entice a sale of an illegal item in Canada. I also know that it wasn't very intelligent to contact other Canadians in search of illegal weapons. I owe everyone at this forum an apology for my ignorance and thoughtless emails.

I realize that this thread has had a negative effect on my reputation, but I reasure you that I am not a scam artist.

I will continue to visit the forums because my interest for balisongs will not leave me; however,I will be sure not to buy one unless I am living in a state that allows it. I am also ending production of the bali I was making because I do not want to be penalized by law at such a young age.

Thanks for the advice and sorry for causing conflict.

Please end this thread on a good note, I don't think I deserve to be pushed away from such a great social group. I would like to feel welcome again, despite my inappropriate actions. Thank you for your understanding.

Sincerely,

Matt a.k.a Balis Edge

Matt, you sound sincere. Just be careful what you post and what info you give out to others. This is what unjust, illogical laws do--they create a climate of mistrust and fear amongst those who shouldn't have to be looking over their (our) shoulders.

If you possess anything "questionable," just keep it to yourself...

Karl
