Warrenty & my re-profiled Commander...

I know I'm jumping the gun, but...should my Commander have a QC issue when it arrives from Bandit's shop, will EKI "warrenty" my Commander? It's a new 2000 "satin", plain edge from BladeArt.com, and Bandit is re-profiling the edge at 40 degrees for a true "V" ground edge. Does anyone have reason to believe one way or another? Thanks...just worried I may have a lemon when it shows up.

...and you haven't heard bitchin' & winein' till they "reject" MY Commander. Will the "usual suspects" back me then? ...or do you feel my warrenty should be voided for whatever reason. I'm unsure of their policy...that's all. Thanks!!! Can't wait!!!

Glad to see you sent it off to David, I can't wait to get mine back.

As to your question, it'll have to be a "Croos that bridge when you get to it" kind of thing.

Think of it as a gun. If I have a pistol customized by a gunsmith, I don't expect the maker to go 100% by the listed warranty. That may just be me.

I assume you are getting the knife prior to it's going to David. Look it over and if there are any issues (which I doubt) address it with EKI.

Once the work is done, you may have voided your warranty. Having talked with Mary about some of the knives that have come into thier shop for service, I think you'll be safe with simple reprofiling the cutting edge.

Jackyl,
Just out of curiousity, why are you wanting to go to a V grind?
I see a lot of guys doing this or wanting to do this, and if it's just personal preference, I can understand that.
I guess I was just wondering if you have a real "problem" with a chisel grind?

Thanks again John.

Actually it went straight to Bandit, so I didn't get to handle it.

The reason I don't like chisel grinds is because they are almost all ground on the wrong side, they don't cut evenly, and I can't sharpen one easily with my setup. Chisel grinds belong only on kitchen knives, IMO.
