Hello from PAris,

I am a proud owner of a Wegner Junior (a gift from Blues currently taking holydays in PAris)

What a EXCELLENT knife !
I really enjoy the ergonomy and also the solid "feel" of that clip it.

The very well designed blade is ready for any chore even the hard ones !

Bravo Spyderco for that great companion !

Cheers,
JM

JM,

I couldn't agree more. I've been using my Wegner Jr. a lot in the aftermath of the storm and appeciate the design more each day. It has been my daily carry knife for some time and excels at mundane tasks (sharpening pencils etc.) but lately I have needed it for heavier duty. I've cut broken branches from trees, cut ropes for securing sandbags and tarpaulins, cut up carpet and so on, and the little Wegner has handled it all with ease due to its solid construction and robust blade. I was even thinking of starting a thread on the General Forum to ask why anyone would want a bigger knife when the little Wegner can do so much so well (and not scare the sheeple)

Clay,

Courage my friend, and bravo for the Voltaire's quote !

The blade of the Wegner is really hard. I found ceramic almost useless to resharp it. Diamond and fine stone seems to be the only way to work on it.

That is encouraging news. I've just ordered mine after a long and arduous selection process, and I've never actually laid eyes on or handled one. The size, reported solid construction and blade steel all make it just about perfect for my purposes. And after all, that first knife has to be perfect. Can't stand the wait. I'll share my glee when it arrives.

My W. jr. arrived. This is the first kife of its type, that being a contemporary, high tech steel, folder, I've ever owned. I discovered that it's very sharp by checking out the one-hand-opening technique. Zip - one leaking thumb (about 2 bandaids worth). I then switched from thumb to cardboard boxes and cut until the knife wouldn't shave hair. I've got one of those fine diamond hones which is glued to a block of wood. It's probably crap, but I know how to use it, proving you can learn anything if you mess with it enough. It's a snap to get the edge back. A few passes, the burr appears, take that off you're there. The steel is a dream to sharpen compared to the old Buck hunter I've got. You can't get the Buck this sharp. The knife is even better than I had anticipated and Danelle was right with her advice. The size is perfect for my needs. Thanks Spyderco!

JM, (Nemo)

Glad you like the knife. It was my pleasure.
And thank you for showing me your Paris, a truly remarkable city.

Hmmm, with all this talk I just might have to get another Wegner Jr. now.

Blues,

You are welcome !

The "Junior" is really the perfect size
with a big cutting power.
Also the ATS-34 by Spyderco is really an edge holder !

Mine works really hard these days and still shaving.
Its blade ergonomy makes it a deep slasher.

I really enjoy that excellent knife !

Cheers,
JM
