Today wasn't good. Just nothing went right. So here's atleast a couple pics of my misery. I'm not saying it's terrible, but she's not right either..

Not terrible, really!:)

The dovetails are a little extreme, and the pins are too large, and in weird spots, BUT.....it should be a GREAT user, and priced accordingly.

Overall, the knife looks good, but it is a shame that there is a gap between the scales and the bolsters in that last photo. It also looks like there is a slight misalignment of the bolsters, but that may just be the angle the photos are taken from.

Overall not a bad attempt...in fact it is much better then I will ever achieve. I agree with STeven that the pins are placed in unusual places.

It also looks like there is a slight misalignment of the bolsters, but that may just be the angle the photos are taken from.

Roger, I think that's an optical illusion caused by the pin placement.

Bleh. No good. Throw it in the trash. Put it in a box marked "Jeff" and put it next to your mailbox this Friday night and PM me your address. :D

Other then a slight gap in the last pics, it looks good to me too.

Particularly since the scales ain't going nowhere. right? :D I think that what you were trying to do with the pins could work with smaller pin stock.

The pins are alittle to big. I was so sure I had 1/8" I cut to length the four pins. Then realized I had drilled out 5/32",opps.

The bolsters are just a touch off as well. Something I think probably has to do with reaming the holes to big.

when I glued the handle material I glued one let it set, then drilled the pinholes and repeated for the next, I pinned last. This was a new process for me, did I mention this was my first dovetailed bolsters??

I rushed doing the second side of the handle, dinner was ready, and it rotated down just a touch. As you can see it's tight at the bottom. Also I normally have the handles very close to finish so any gaps are easy to see.

Thanks for all you comments. I really like when people give some good solid feedback. I admit I wasn't even thinking about the pins. Where would you guys like to see the pins?

thanks
Paul
