Well..no RC-4 for me...

Yes.. I won't be receiving the RC-4 I ordered. A couple weeks ago I ordered 5 knives and a sharpmaker. I recently moved to India so I had to have them go through customs. The company I ordered from offers Global Express shipping from USPS. Well, today the package arrived. It was opened and out of the 6 items I ordered there were only 2 inside!!! I ordered a sharpmaker, an RC-4 (which is what I REALLY wanted the most!!), pocket bushman, CS Lawman, Spyderco Native, and a Buck Bantam. Out of all I ordered I only received the sharpmaker and Bantam(which is what I wanted the least). Who knows how many hands made it to the box before I received it. And the India postal service just says it's not their problem. There's really no use arguing with them...it's a lost cause. So..needless to say..it's been a frustraighting day! :grumpy:

oh international mail...I lived in South America and my wife is Colombian. I share your pain..Ouch! :(

Well the glass is 2/5 full - you did get a sharpmaker! Sorry to hear about your loss. Can you not contact customs to see if they removed it? I know - low chance of success, but at least some bureaucrat might have to file a paper.

WTH?
Considering how corrupt the infrastructure is in India (I've been there), the question would be--why would anyone move to India?
I visited there for a couple of months in 1999--I kind of wanted to see other places besides USA--I have to say it's one of the last places I would ever go back to. You spend hundreds of dollars on knives, and the box gets opened and YOUR knives get distributed to thieves
Next thing you will be robbed by bandits wielding the very knives you paid for!
We may have our problems here in USA, but we don't have that kind of absurd corruption :thumbdn:

newknife,

Sorry to hear about your troubles. Is it a Customs thing or was it simply stolen? When will you be back Stateside?

No..customs didn't remove it because I still received one of the knives and the sharpmaker. It was stolen. And it's impossible to get anywhere here with the "postal officials". They told me they could send the package back to the states but they weren't sure if the contents would be there when it arrived!! And then they told me I should have used Fedex or another courier. And they are probably right. I have received a fedex package here already with NO problems. The only thing is the online company I ordered everything from doesn't use fedex. And I won't be returning to the states anytime soon.

I'm really thinking of seeing if the company I ordered from will just let me order again and see if they will just walk to a Fedex office and mail it for me. I'm thinking with Fedex it would be less likely to be stolen. When you send something here by US mail once it gets through custom's it into India postal service which means the shipment goes through many "unaccountable" hands. But with Fedex it stays with them the whole time.

What do you think? Is it worth a shot?

Hey brother, just order that stuff and have it sent to one of us and we'll run it over to FedEx for you when it arrives. I know I wouldn't mind doing it. Surely no one else here would. Us RAT boys in this forum are pretty honest. I doubt one of these fools would steal your stuff. Probably joke around about it, but we wouldn't actually do it.

newknife, Dylside, please drop me an email at jeff@ratcutlery.com and let's see what we can work out on this. I hate international shipments for this very reason. A long time ago we sent about 30 RTAKs to a commando unit in South America and every one of them got stolen before they ever made it to their destination. We finally had to hand carry them down and personally give them to the unit.

That sucks man!! I have no idea what will happen with this but the mere fact that Jeff is getting involved says a lot about the company. Besides the obvious fit and finish of the RC knives this is why I will spend way to much money with you guys!

WOW... can imagine what you are going thru... live in the Philippines and people sometimes report such things happening... but so far have been lucky ( knock on wood)
have ordered several times and not once has it been given any undue notice by other people....
where did you order your knives from if you don't my mind asking? also what the label on the box it comes in may help it be less noticeable... camping tools usually goes by unnoticed....

I ordered them from Knifeworks. Their service was great..it certainly wasn't their fault at all. And they did label them as camping gear. I think the problem was that it went through usps and then into India's postal service.

Hey if you don't mind me asking how do you have your packages shipped? Have you used Fedex before?

Actually i also order form knifeworks, they are quick and reliable, and they ship via Usps as well. am really bothered at this news cause then the possibility of some idiot at the post office to take note and me not getting the knives is a scary thought.
really feel for you.

have not had the chance to have something shipped via fed ex yet.... but it looks like am going to start asking the options.
