I went salvaging today for damascus supplies today at an old machine shop turned junkyard. I used to play there as a kid when my buddy's dad ran it. I learned how to shoot, ride dirt bikes, and alot of things my mom never would have approved of out there.
I got permission to scavenge from the current owner. They bought the place 10 years ago and it sits abandoned.
I had to drag this GREAT 30ft section of cable about 200 yards to my vehicle thru woods, swamp, and thorny thicket all the way chopping branches and thorns with my COVINGTON knife (shameless plug). A half hr later I finally got it to the car. I cut it with the chop saw when I got home this morning and she is clean inside, just some surface rust. This cable is about 1.5 to 2" in diameter!! And I have about 30ft!!!!!!
Also got a LARGE drive chain, a saw blade and a few other goodies.
